I have seen several interviews of Donaldson on hitting. Wish I could have my youth back. I am convinced I would be a better hitter if I had heard him talk when I was 10 or so. Everything he says is like a revelation and I just sit in front of my TV going WOW. I was watching one interview and he spoke directly to little leaguers if they had a coach telling them to swing down on the ball just say no. Those things they call ground balls are outs here in the big leagues. He is right.
But his theories go beyond just hitting fly balls and line drives over grounders. His concepts on generating power and more specifically as he describes it using all your power instead of just part of it. This is one guy who should become a hitting instructor for sure when he retires. Heck, if I were the Jays I would be offering him a 20 year deal. Play as long as you are good and helping the team and when you retire you return here and become organization hitting instructor. I would send him to spend some time with all my players at every level.
