I think the key question here is-Does HAL allow non asterick pitchers to pitch on three days rest if they have been recieved from a trade or picked up on waivers?

Yes, a pitcher traded for or picked up off FA wire can pitch immediately. He starts off fully rested. But that condition only lasts for 1 game and then it is normal rest. So any advantage is very slight and very fleeting.

So, if someone trades for a pitcher, on the last day of the season in a close race, pitches w/o rest, and knocks someone out of the playoffs, no one will be angry?

Non-issue because you cannot make trades or transactions after game 142. But yes if someone managed to make a trade last day of season since the rest of us cannot make trades I would be angry and demanding an explanation how they managed to do that.

I would probably just glide past any league that had a stipulation in the description about this. I would figure the league creator was a bit too OCD to bother dealing with. Life is too short to sweat the little stuff, much less micro-minitiare stuff like this. To me it is a bit like getting concerned when buying a ton of steel that it might be one ounce too little or one ounce too much. If it falls on your head it will be same headache either way.

So theoretically they could keep making that trade every day and both SP could pitch every night.

well ... if u can't see the abuse that can spawn from not caring thats on u ...

(2) teams could trade back & forth all season & the (4) pitchers could start every series with no rest regulation for traded or free agent starting pitchers ... all other SP's are regulated by rest & so the traded SP's avoid this which is b.s.

Yes, theoretically they could, but that would be the clearest case of collusion ever and it would be perfectly appropriate to have strat would step in and take over the teams at that point.

this situation is on u ... i sent u a msg. that u read in time to make adjustments & its in the league description in white & off-green, it's always ur decision in what league u join ... but some come with an expectation from the participants ... som regulate all starting pitchers rest except when traded or from the free agents ... (24) team leagues are down to the wire for the (8) playoff spots so no team should get an advantage due to a programing ommision ...

NOTE: This message was sent to me (divad) about a Daily league we are in. daly57 is the Commish of that league and I believe the inventor of the "Pitching Etiquette" rule. (I still dont know how to read a message before the autodraft).

If a league has rules it is your responsibility to understand and abide by them. This is not something that I have ever worried about. I think this is much ado about nothing

Thanks. Your viewpoint is recorded. The Commish is the Comish. And, "Don't worry. Be Happy"

This page, however, is dedicated to do as you say, meet "our responsibility to understand (so we might) abide by them (rules)." To do this...

We need everyone to post only as enlightening and insightful a comment as you are able to make about the idea of "Pitching Etiquette" itself. Please, do not post how you feel . Tell us what you THINK about "Pitching Etiquette", how it works, what different viewpoints to consider, etc. The goal is for this to be as concise and enlightening a read for someone who wants to understand "Pitching Etiquette" as possible.

If daly57 is proud of his invention, he could explain it to everyone here? Better yet, create your own forum discussion to introduce "Pitching Etiquette" to the SOM world at large? You are welcome to publish a goto The "Pitching Etiquette" Inventor: In his own write, announcement here.

Above comment is from one of the upset fellows in a "Pitching Etiquette" League. He is incensed that I dare to question the Commish. Well, a theroretical Commish specifying a rule inadequately, gives himself too much power to make up rules and penalties after the fact. You can find youself surrounded by the Commish's friends angry at you cause he's a good guy and a stream of name calling and non-sensical accusations and useless comments ensue. That's not the only reason we need a better understanding of what can go wrong and what could or should be done about the uncouth, etiquetteless, scoundrels who violate the sacred pitching etiquette rules. It's to be as fair as possible. You cant control it or really compensate the injured party when an etiquetteless scoundrel does the no days rest trick on you...or can you?

Personally find the "Pitching Etiquette Rules" more applicable to the Daily and 20xx leagues. Didn't the ATG pitchers throw until their arms fell off?

So, if for realism (or fairness) a commissioner for a Daily or 20xx league wants to include that as part of the league rules, seems okay to me.

Do not think it should be a rule for ATG leagues though.
