It looks like he was strictly a reliever with the Cardinals (6 games) in the early part of the year before being picked up on waivers by the Giants in June. He would probably thus be a SP/RP (no *) (22 games/16 starts/6 relief appearances/11 complete games). Led the league in ERA and shutouts.

Hey packleader...you nominated Cesar Tovar '68 which is great, but then teased us with his 'best season '70'. So before I close the nominations I gotta ask which one??

1968 - 272/326/372/698, every position, 647AB/31db/35sb
1970 - 300/356/442/798, OF/2B/3B, 702AB/36db/13tr/30sb

Having been through this card add process a few times now I have a sense of what cards have a chance of making it. I don't think the fact that he played all 9 positions (which is cool!) will carry his '68 card through (and as Andy pointed out he'll be unusable at C and probably SS), especially with his solid '70 staring us in the face. :D

No guarantees but I know this group appreciates the good utility guy.

So staying with '68 or going with '70?
tks

Strat had him as a SP9/RP3 when they first introduced the Advanced 1950 set. In my replay of that year, i had the giants and won the league (beating the tigers)! basically riding hearn the whole way through, inspiring by the real life Jim Konstanty performance in 1950.

I hope we can throw in thomasmore's 57 mantle before the curtain falls. Assuming his favorite is better than not giving him a nomination.

yes. For the few guys that nominated more than one, if we don't hear back from them we'll do our best to include the one we think they would've gone with, or just the first one listed :) (in the case of stratoholic)
