C'est La Vie League -- SEASON 26

CURRENT RULES
1) Effective with the 2014 card set, we will hold a prospect draft after the annual free agent draft, with managers drafting up to 2 prospects per year -- prospects are those players who have never received a card yet and draft sequence will be random and serpentine.
2) Prospects may be held indefinitely, until such time as a player receives a card, at which point the prospect must be either promoted or dropped -- with managers holding no more than 4 prospects at any one time.

Actually Big - it appears that we are defining an eligible Prospect as any player who has NEVER had a card. I read this to mean that if a guy came up for a few ABs at the end of September, but didn't get carded, he is still eligible. I don't see the part of 'no prior MLB experience'.

Yes, the current rule has been "never had a card." This vote is about changing that to "no MLB appearances", but as of which point?

I was under the impression-- as posted in the C'EST LA VIE Roster records where our draft and rosters are recorded-- that the current draft order was set and the rule as originally posted without changes was in force. What are we voting on here?

I may have caused confusion, but my shorthand for

is

"No MLB in card set"

The rule as originally posted was indeed in force. After a lengthy discussion about a similar set of rules in another league, that group of managers voted for change, so I thought it best to ask if the managers in this league also wanted to see some changes.

In any case, I had actually forgotten that the prospect rules were different from most other keeper leagues, so the draft order as posted in the league Google doc at the moment is the one that would be the result of "No MLB in card set" winning the vote.

If we do not change the current rule, then I will get a random order list generated and edit the prospect draft in the Google doc to be random and serpentine.

I had not copied cubit's vote into the list in my previous posting. Vote status is:
7-1 in favor of "Have not appeared in MLB as of the end of the season of the current card set" (so one more vote needed for the required super majority of 8 owners or more)
8-0 in favor of draft order "Determined by the combined win-loss records of the 2 regular seasons for the previous card set: Reverse order, worst-record first, NFL style" (so this proposition passes)

I am still confused by this situation and see my vote was converted to another in the above posted list. Let's be specific, at the risk of upsetting someone's prospect draft calculations.

Take Trey Mancini DH BAL, he has never been carded, played 5 games in 2016 and has no card in the current set. Is he available as a Prospect in our draft? I could choose others.

Let's do one more: Eric Thames MIL He has no card in the 2016 set; indeed has not appeared in MLB for 5 years, but he probably had cards 2011-2012. He's not a rookie like Mancini, but he won't get a card until next year, if then.

By our rules, neither of these players could have been drafted in this year's draft.Can they be "snapped up" in a Prospect draft?

OK--lets get this league filled up. Has anyone contacted JMP? Kinda hate just missing the Friday night deadline.
