I am surprised Hiller, McAuliffe, and Bonds are not getting more votes.

Hiller should be around 5 million. I think he would get used across all the caps.

McAuliffe. Would be a good backup plan if someone missed out on Arky.

Bonds card is just insane and only has 19 votes.

Hopefully both Cano and Vidro get in. I would use the Cano card and Vidro was one of my favorite second basemen. Vidro and Vlad was a lot of fun to watch.

I agree with you--

dont like the way this is going so far at all,

the bonds card should be definite even though we have other bonds cards.

You forget that Bonds got an insane 120 intentioanl base on balls in 2004. Compare this with 35 in 2001. IBB are taken off the SOM card. When IBB are taken off, Bonds slash line is weaker than 2001 and 2002 (.362/.515/.812).

So what's the interest to have Bonds 3rd best card?

So you're telling me that his IBB's are NOT factor in. Hence his OBA would NOT be a reflection of his TRUE OBA for the season. How does that make sense? To me it does not. It's along the lines of positive clutch/negative clutch BS that I've read over the years as being an RBI equalizer. BTW you know this how about the IBB issue?

I'm also confused here as well.

(Since we have a DH Ted Williams card)

Anyway, in Stratomatic Land, what's the difference between a BB and a IBB?

A walk is a walk is a walk.

That card is just plain sick.

Intentional walks have never been factored into the Strat cards. In the old days I used to use this knowledge to grab pitchers who would have better whips than posted after subtracting their intentional walks. The other guys in my leagues caught on of course, but for a few years it was a nice little trick.

PS Anyone who's ever read John Lamanna's guides know he always talks about factoring out the IBB when making his card forecasts

All that actually 'should' matter is what the card looks like- since its already been made.

In addition to that, we really need some of the guys who will be high cap use--
right now not seeing enough, but keeping fingers x'd that we don't get a bunch more guys in the 7-8 mil range which is what im seeing.

For those of you that don't play high cap leagues above 200 mil, not having fresh cards is the pits.
Too many managers copy other folk's drafting strategies and the only way to break that up is introducing new players at that level...

just tellin it like it is. :?

Exactly. To me, it makes perfect sense because when we will simulate Bonds' performance in Strat, he will get intentional base-on-base IN ADDITION to the regular walks that he will get through dice throwing. If his strat card would reflect the .600 on-base pct, his actual obp in SOM would be over .650 once the IBB are added. Instead, his strat card reflects the .500 on-base pct without the IBB, and his actual obp in SOM will get to .550-.600 depending on how agressive coaches are with issueing IBB. The second method will get closer to the actual results.

This is known from a long time. See Brucy Bundy formulas here: (formula #1 "BB-IBB" are reflected on the Strat card.
