Nor have both participants responded to my private e-mail. Yes, this will cause a need for rules to be put in place for both our tournaments beyond what is spelled out in the Fair Play policy rule at:

Moose, I think this is EASILY fixable. If the violator, refuses to respond to your personal request regarding the FAIR PLAY POLICY, then they are OUT of COMPLIANCE and therefore, don't EARN the opportunity to receive the PASSWORD for future Barnstromer Leagues.....rules or no rules, since they are NOT complying with the FAIR PLAY POLICY.

This would be a HUGE message to all Barnstormers that the FAIR PLAY POLICY is REAL and APPLIES.

Roosky - These are the same guys, that when they were kids, broke their OWN toys when they didn't get their way.

When I was eleven yrs. old one of my good friends punched a hole through his bedroom wall when he got grounded for not doing his chores. When I asked him why, he told me that it was his room and he could do whatever he wanted to his room......go figure......some people NEVER get the BIG PICTURE.....whether they are eleven or thirty or even sixty!

So in Leagues 1 and 5, what is the Barnstormer committee doing to do? There was unearned wins for everyone in those 2 leagues. A few wins now can determine making or not making the semi finals.

We're not going down the path of giving anybody WINS or replaying games or doing anything of the sort. The teams have been fixed, made competitive - using all of it's 100 Mil value in the lineups and pitching - and play resumes. The best we can do is set policy for watching out for this and catching it sooner. Educating all players on NOT to do this and what the penalty will be (SOM has made it clear what that is). There isn't anything else we can do that would be fair to the 11 other teams.

And BTW, I did hear from both players - they were very sorry and didn't realize their mistake - and claimed to be only trying to help their team. The are both first time players and I'm sure we have already run them off. That's too bad because we were all NEW at one time and we can learn from our mistakes.

The same message that I posted above with the red highlighting will go out to all players in an e-mail before the next event. And will probably in some way be saved for future new players that may decide to give the tour a shot.

nomadbrad can ease off the pokes now.

Excuse my ignorance. But why have a drop penalty if you can't drop players. I just improved a team immensely by dropping Paul Konerko, Eddie Stanky, And Maury Wills in favor of Kieth Hernandez, Willie Randolph, and Phil Rizzuto. My hitting and defense improved immediately and I started winning. Now it's true that I only lost a half of a percent of value. I get that you don't want teams dumping 20 or 25 percent of their salary but Moose implied that you couldn't drop anyone. Am I missing something?

The rule is about losing 10% or more of your initial payroll. For $100M that is $90M, for $80M that is $72M.

I agree that there are times when you can make a couple of changes to better your ballclub once you see how things are shaking out, but they should be kept to a percent or two of the salary cap. I would suggest that even dropping 5% of your salary cap is a death sentence for your club. Ten percent is astronomical outside of the mystery leagues. I also agree that in an ATG tournament setting, no one should be allowed to drop over 10%.

Thanks Mighty Moose for running a great tournament.

I quoted the SOM rules "make wholesale changes to your roster that reduces the overall salary value of your team"

If I have to clarify - Never implied not to drop anyone, just encouragement to work with the team you drafted and then baring that, to keep your team competitive by staying within 10% of your total value. And where did that figure come from ? They have a rule over in the Players Tournament on this at that's the figure they are using. And SOM itself has suggested to me that this is the point at which they would consider taking over a team. You may see this figure adopted into the future rules is the way SOM is making it sound. All that we want to do is to avoid a situation where the league starts to be affected by the team that is dumping.

Yeah granted when you are in that 5% drop penalty period of that 5-10-20 percent drop penalty you can make a significant amount of changes without adversely affecting your overall team value but if you've done that and you're not improving, you need to either make other changes or just leave it alone.
