Thanks for the comments guys, this is the NLD I know and love! :D

Offense - Joe and I are about the same. I'm slightly stronger Vs L and he's slightly stronger vs R. I'm pretty much in line with your ratings with Falcon 3rd in our division and Smokey last in offense. Smokey has the lowest offense rating vs L and significantly lower vs R which I think is one of the keys in the game.

In my parks I have me slightly better both ways that you are in your parks. In just your parks, we are about even. Smokey is better v LHP for sure. I have him fourth in the division also. When I say parks, I mean all the parks, not just the home park.

Pitching - I focus on Starters since there can be wide range in usage with RP. I don't include fielding in ratings. In your ratings you have us ranked Smokey, Stoney, Joe & Falcon. I show Falcon, Stoney, little gap, Joe and then Smokey. Again, I'm not taking into account RP so that is probably a pretty big swing since it about 1/3 of the innings. I'm also not including fielding.

SPs in our parks (lower is better)
Smoke: 796
Stoney: 763
JTJ: 808
Falcon: 739

These ratings are for actual IP usage. Falcon’s pen is pretty bad by design. Since these ratings have my SPs in Coors half the time it’s obvious why my SPs are the worst, but that said, in your park I probably catch Smokey.

If you look at just pitching without fielding I have the following:

Code: Select all
nythawk   4376
BigAlrc   4786
SemperG   4818
Jeep...   4829
Gbrooke   4876
Smokey.   4885
Stoney.   4914
Spider.   5017
JoeTJet   5288
Falcon.   5340
Doug...   5452
Dale...   5571

Stoney - Strong BA vs L & R with plenty of extra base hits. Pitching was mirror image with low hit and total base numbers. Didn't expect quite this success and current loosing streak shows that gaudy home record was a mirage.

Joe - was going to score runs but pitching wouldn't hold up
Falcon - all righty offense was going to hurt him. Glad I was able to pick up Sanchez instead of Santana to match up better.
Smokey - sorry buddy, didn't see enough OB on the team. I didn't think you'd have enough offense to stay in the game until your bullpen could close it out.

Don’t really have a different opinion than this other than I thought that Roark and Syndergaard would be good enough in my park to rest my decent pen. I didn’t skimp on pitching, spending 30 mil, so I thought I’d be towards the bottom (due to the park) but not rock bottom as it has turned out. I think we’ve had some bad luck there to be honest. Roark, Paxton, Familia, and Smith have just been awful even taking the park into consideration. Given that Roark is going every 4 days, that will really drag the stats down. Eh, maybe you could say that Rusin’s been better than expected to make up some of that I guess.

Joe, thanks for publishing your ratings. I haven't done my own for the league, but I think my team is probably another Central Division finisher. My offense is performing closer to my expectations than you show, but my expectations are lower than yours.

Spider, your offense is a bit skewed because you are so much better v LHP. Unbalanced squads (like mine and Semper’s) tend to underperform their ratings.

I feel like I'm not getting any love here. Considering that I screwed up the draft I'd say that the Pylons are keeping the faithful home fans excited about our prospects. Going into last night we were tied for the Wild Card spot, until the Doobie Brothers started into China Grove and distracted us. A tweak here, a benching there, and maybe a little magic, and we're right in the thick of this thing.

Joe, your ratings are always welcomed, as they provide some otherwise unavailable insight, and stimulate this sort of debate. Thanks for doing this.

With 3 weeks still left to go, the division is still up for grabs. Stay tuned, and hold on for a typical Wild Wild West finish.

Falcon, remember that the ratings don’t take screwing up the draft into account! ;) Also, remember, that these aren’t necessarily my opinions but just how the numbers turn up with the ratings. A lot of how you do will depend on how the program treats SPs who pitch a ton of innings. If they don’t take into account the overuse then you’ll do pretty well, but that Pen is pretty awful. Also, as Stoney pointed out, being so rh’ed makes you vulnerable to certain types of pitchers.

Now you know why I never post about my team. It always leads to a losing streak.

Yeah, I know what you mean, it always seems that way, but I doubt there's actually a connection.

The Accents have unexpectedly played better of late, actually sweeping Hawk last night. In the process, won three 1-run games, a scenario we're usually on the reverse side of. And since no one in the Division has run away with it, we find ourselves only 5 back this morning. Sprinkles of optimism abound in the Southern clubhouse.

Spider, always nice to see one of your guys starting to hit. Hard to believe that 5/11 got him "all the way" to .186!

We had some breaks last night winning three one runners from Big A. We actually got some pitching amazingly enough!

Accents are 10-3 in their last 13, have gone from last to tied for 2nd, and now just 3 in back of the slumping Unwashed squad. Looks like the LU is finally gelling, and a team I thought was much better than their record showed, may contend in the last 1/4 of the season. Anywho, I feel the East is up for grabs at this point. 8-)

Yeah, the East has only one team above .500 so that race looks like it's going down to the wire.

As for me I just hope that Hawk doesn't make the playoffs (and we do) because he just OWNS me. We went 2-10 against his squad!

In other news, Spider is on a 9 game win streak and Doug on an 8 game bummer. :o

Yep, this team perked up when Grichuk gave up his strike. He's hit in 10 of his last 11 games with 7 HRs. Now let's see if I mimic Stones' jinx.

Wow, this game was something you don't see much, 25 runs!

http://365.strat-o-matic.com/game/433041/714

Four players had four hits and three had three hits for us. Wish we would have gotten a few of those in the game before!

Huge anomaly of course. Crazy.
