"Those Were the Days" League -- NEXT STEPS

Congrats to all on a relatively smooth draft. As we work our way through round 20, it's probably a good time to review the next steps in the process. I expect we are all tired of drafting, so the original idea to stop at 20 and then load teams is probably still a good one.

On the other hand, if one or more of us is sloppy in selecting the final bench warmers, then there could be a cascading effect of roster issues throughout the league. To avoid that, here's what I would suggest:

a. Complete round 20, as planned.

b. During round 21, the stadium draft, I will publish a list of 2007 players who are still available to be drafted. These are the only players who can be selected for the empty slots in rosters.

c. I believe I had not thought things through properly, when I wrote the next segment of the league rules:

INITIAL WAIVERS & FRENZY
1) After 20 players are drafted for each team, owners will load their teams into the new league. Selections #1-5 on the draft lists will be for new players to add to each roster; selections #6-25 will be for the 20 players drafted already.
2) At the completion of the waivers period, a standard Strat frenzy will occur, in which teams will fill out their rosters to the maximum of 28.

Upon further thought, the best way to keep roster SNAFUs to a minimum is to first list the players who have already been selected. HAL would not then try to use one of them to fill somebody else's vacancy. So I think that first line should be revised to say:

1) After 20 players are drafted for each team, owners will load their teams into the new league. Selections #1-20 on the draft lists will be for the 20 players drafted already. Selections #21-25 will be for new players to add to each roster

Unless there are objections, I will update the rules with that edit (plus a similar edit for later annual drafts).

d. After all teams are loaded, there will be a standard Strat waivers period, to correct for bench players scattered about due to some being loaded into more than one team. As above, only those players who were still eligible at the end of round 20 can be picked up during waivers. All players who were selected during the 20-round draft will remain on their original rosters, unless traded.

e. Strat requires 25 players during team loading. At the conclusion of the waivers period, managers can add up to 3 more players, if they wish, to a maximum of 28.

f. After that, teams can have 24-28 active on the Strat site at any one time, at the manager's discretion.
