He can't get injured if he is not playing. The best way to prevent a catcher injury is to carry only 2 catchers and have a injury 6 rated backup. If the backup is injured, the other catcher cannot be injured except for the remainder of the current game.

also..if your high injury backup is good defensively he can get some ab's coming in late in the game...or if he can be the dh vs lefty pitching if they are a high balance vs lefty

You also seemed to also be asking if resting players from time to time would prevent injuries. The answer to this is NO. Any player has the same injury probability no matter if he has played every day all season long or if you rested him on occasion so don't rest your best players. Keep them in the lineup.

Now some players have a higher % chance to become injured than other players in general as can be seen in their injury rating but resting them will not give them a better chance to remain healthy.

Though if they are injury prone and you have a big lead late I have been known to rest such players the last few series to protect them for the playoffs. But only do this if you can afford to lose those late games.

Even that doesn't work. I've rested my high injury players to have them pinch hit by HAL and get injured right before the playoffs.
