Home field advantage?

PostTue Aug 15, 2017 1:36 pm

I'm in a league where every team has to play in Coors '99, Wrigley '78 or Fenway '67. Due to the virtually identical nature of the ballparks I expected home and road records to be relatively comparable.

But 66 games into the season home teams have a .541 record, and only 3 teams are under .500 at home. Is being at home such a significant tactical advantage? Does the game engine favor home teams in some way? Interested to hear your thoughts.

The following rule is in effect in the online game:

Maximum rule: Home field advantage

This option forces a statistical advantage of approximately 10 points (.010) on the batting average for the home team. This is the traditional major league difference between batting averages at home and on the road.
