It would not be so bad...if Strat...would give us a date and stick to it...or our spokesperson...I assume Rosie would get some info from Strat and pass it along....this is no better then what we had in the past...I thought at one time we were going to get new cards monthly or at least every other month...very disappointing

Here is the info that was passed along a few days ago by Rosie...

"Hey all - sorry to report but the cards won't be available until mid next week. Some delays in pricing reviews."

In my opinion this is definitely better than the way it was...we are getting 4 new card adds a year, even if the delivery isn't on time...

As far as the blog goes, I would think someone from Strat would post something, rather than just letting it go unmanned for six weeks.

What happened to the monthly free credit lottery?

Really trying not to only post negative things. I am not active except for 1 theme league.

The cards exist already, I can't figure out what would be holding them up for you guys.

customer service 101 deliver what you promise, communicate in a timely manner
customer service 102 if for some reason you can't fulfill 101 on time communicate immediately
customer service 103 when you make a mistake or there is a delay make up for the error
customer service 104 don't create layers of people between you and the customer

This is beyond incompetence. There is no constituency for SOM baseball incompetence.

That's a twist on something I saw lately, that there is no constituency for political incompetence. While we may differ politically, we are unified as SOM players in the virtue of competence from our business supplier. And it seems that the continual delays are yet another affirmation that eerily silent Johnny Boy Garcia and his ilk are dumb, callous and devoid of any business sense.

In contrast I can call Upton Bass who does everything acoustic Bass and can speak to one of the two principals directly when needed, and even if they aren't available right away they will let me know when they are.

They are busy either making or selling stuff all the time, but anytime a regular customer calls they will literally spend all the time needed on the phone and answer all questions thoroughly and not rush em off.

It reminds me of this because the one time they sent something that got delayed by one day-- I literally got an email with an explanation almost immediately and the thing still ended up arriving on time, b/c they sent it faster.

But yeah...

Like everyone else, I'm eager to get the new cards as well, and it's frustrating to have delays. However, the way I look at it is that if this is the biggest issue in my life right now, or at any time, I am truly fortunate. And if it is the biggest issue in my life, maybe it's me who needs to get a life.

While SOM sometimes fails to meet expectations, at times shooting itself in the foot and angering customers, such are minor issues on an otherwise stellar product. The game engine, the product itself and customer service has vastly improved over the days when TSN ran the online game. While the community has a right to expect good customer service, sometimes the community as a whole behaves like a drug addict whose next fix has been delayed.

Also, regarding John Garcia, I email him a couple or 3 times a month with SOM issues or questions and he has always replied promptly and graciously, and quickly resolves any game issues.

While John is the front man for SOM when it comes to the online game, I don't think that he is the source of the issues, but rather the solution to any problems that arise. Like any other employee for any other company, John takes his orders from his boss. Like employees everywhere, there are probably things that John doesn't like and he probably wishes he could do and tell us more, but his hands are likely tied. Compounding the problem is that John takes a beating in this forum, but is unable to reply in any detail to tell us what's really happening behind the scenes. Also, Hal Richman runs a tight ship and employees are probably required to wear multiple hats because SOM is a small company. While such may cause problems when it comes to customer service and support, we should probably be grateful for Hal's financial acumen, for if Hal didn't run a tight ship, the company probably wouldn't have survived all these years. Don't forget, Hal began experimenting with dice and baseball cards as a hobby when he was just a kid, so this has been a labor of love for Hal. If he was in it just for the money, he probably would've quit long ago. My understanding is that Hal was always on hand to greet customers picking up their new cards on opening day and to thank them for their continuing support and to listen to their concerns about the product. While Hal obviously likes what he is doing, he has the difficult task of trying to strike the proper balance between product development and production costs, customer service and support, and sustained profitability. I'm sure that Hal would be the first to say that there is room for improvement in customer service, but I don't think even the most demanding among us would expect him to do so at a loss. I would rather have the occasional delay than to pay double for the product so that Hal can hire more people to improve customer service. So we wait with gritted teeth and shrugged shoulders.

Now if only I could figure out a way to get the powers that be at SOM to take their heads out of the sand regarding the super reliever fiasco in the ATG online game! - Bernie

Bernie--

In all honestly I think you're making a bad argument.

facts are not in evidence regarding any of the financial assertions you are making.
None of which, even if it were true, would be an excuse not to follow through on things.

In addition the entire premise that the game is good enough and therefor there is no grounds for demanding timely and good customer service or game improvements? like anyone think maybe any of the tons of items people are asking for maybe should happen?
Timely communication is not defined by how many of your emails get answered; its the interaction with the community.
No one single person is representative of the collective.

Lastly, there are an enormous number of 'probably's' in your paragraph. These are most probably incorrect, given that there is again no evidence to support any of it.
You are however, lending a great deal of credence to the notion that many here have repeated which is that with no communication no one really knows whats happening, and that's why people complain.

No one cares if its John Garcia or someone else-- but we have to have some communication, and at some point some positive action.
