I like a lot of the guys BDWard mentioned---although he forgot Carlos Beltran 03-'04.

If that's the standard Salty, idk, although Beltran is a first ballot HOF with a record SB % and these are amazing, unique and toolsy cards.

I'm only judging the cards on how likely they would be used at higher caps.
If a guy isn't getting on base at least in the 50% neighborhood on one side of the card the only chance they'd really be used is if there are tons of homers or similar- and would still have to be above 40% without it being mostly made of walks/singles.

Look at the Pete Reiser card as an example-- 1 in CF -5 arm 5R hitter, hardly ever/never gets drafted in any high cap situation.
Can't remember the last time someone played him. (maybe he snuck onto someone's roster as an inj replacement?)

Its not a judgement on the player or the season they had b/c I can only go by what the card says.

I also spent a great deal of time going through all those players whose cards can be seen-- not to say that everyone that works is gotten, but think most of the hitters who are likely to be used were put on my list, maybe a few more still.

How about 1954 Big Klu?

1954 Ted Kluszewski, 1B, Reds .326 49 141 .407 .642 1.049. Career highs in BA, HR, RBI, BB, OBP, SLG, OPS, OPS+ & TB. 2nd in MVP voting. According to Retrosheet, batted .347 36 104 .437 .706 1.143 vs. RHP and a respectable .287 13 37 .340 .518 .858 vs. LHP. Probably a 3R or 4R card and would be a big improvement over Klu's chronically under performing $6 mil card.

Sounds like it might be a nice card-- its 1b so even if its a 4 as long as there aren't crazy errors its probably not a big negative.
Maybe for the next one, although to be honest, since we still haven't gotten the add from the summer not entirely certain how things are going to play out.

Why do we bother

We will be unlikely to see any of these cards this year. Heck we may not see the last set before Xmas

"That glass is half empty."

Other guys would say, "That glass is half full."

I peg you as a "glass is half empty" kind of guy. Right?

And what if the glass is only One Third Full when it should and could easily be Two Thirds Full?

Mostly I thought the Groundhog Day movie quote was funny...

Anyway, I get your point, I really do. Yes, the company could be much better, but it is what it is, a small-time outfit, albeit with a passionate following.

My take is that the endless stream of negativity doesn't help change anything, other than making the hobby somewhat less enjoyable.

If folks really want to complain, I would think emailing the company directly would be a far more efficient method of reaching them.

Just my two cents worth...

Ive done that.
Actually even phoned them,
also wrote to them on their facebook page.

The only time Ive seen a response is when a LOT of people are complaining.
