"Gloom, despair, and agony on me
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on me

{Weep, weep, weep}"

This team can't do anything but steal bases - so I'll steal some lines from Hee Haw.

We bounced back last night, so hopefully the sweep 2 days ago was just a blip. I'm not mad at you Joe. We all know there's no way I can win 122 games. Just want to be sure and nip this in the bud, so that it doesn't become a pattern.

I hear ya Spider, my team can't hit and that's the thing it *should* do. In addition, we're losing matchups like Hendricks against Colon in our park with Semper missing players with injuries. He hit the heck out of the ball in the whole series with a team that is not all that great on offense, especially with the players he had out. Guerra is at 8.5 in ERA and Triggs and Wood at near 6 and almost 7! Ok, they aren't great, but they aren't < 1.0 pitchers either! Then there's Will Smith with a 6.5 ERA and we've blown 7 games vice 11 saves And Syndergaard is at 4.14. Guerra has given up 14 HRs in 29 innings! that's hard to do with no BPHR on yoru card and only 1.8 and .8 on your card real.

It's been brutal on the mound and to top it off, our offense, which should be pretty good, is hitting .226 v RHP and .234 overall playing in a hitter's park. It seems amazing that we are winning any games at all. We have four regulars (Cano, Upton, Gutierrez, Parker) below the Mendoza line and only Cabrera is > .300 and only 4 other hitters are over .250. Beltre is sub .200 v RHP. it goes on and on.

I *think* we're better than this, but, man, it's been a tough stretch since the halfway point of the last NLD! Crap this game ain't fun when things turn south.

Man I hope it turns around, because this is just bad.

Yeah, I hear ya Jeep, I hope we can stop the bleeding but even when we have good matchups like Hendricks v Colon in a HR park we lose. Glad you're not mad at me.

Got three good games from my starters and Strop last night. I need my pitching and fielding to come around - that's where my team's strength should be. I've had way too many inning from Richard in mop-up, so far.

The weather is getting cold, but Spider is red hot. He's leashing his web upon all of us and there's nothing we can do about it. Not even the Carolina cold mountain air can stop him.

And Joe, what happened last night is certainly an anomaly. You get a 4 HR game (Beltre) but lose by 5.

Thanks Jeep, I'd like to think this whole start is an anomaly! It's not so much that we lost by five, but that we hit 5 HRs and got 15 base runners and only scored 7 runs. Yup, every HR was a solo shot. That's pretty hard to do with that many runners on base. In fact, we hit 8 HRs last night and seven were solos and the other was a two runner. Given that we averaged 13 runners per game, that's ugly. That's just not going to work. Hopefully it turns around. I do think this team is solid. Thanks to a good start in our division we're only 3 back right now. Just gotta ride out this rough patch.

It's early, but the trend is bad for the Steamboats. I can't believe our pitching is this bad, but maybe it is. :(

With all the focus on Jeep, Semper has quietly ran off to the best record in the league wining at 103 win pace. He's 16-5 at home and 17-7 outside of his division  That's some good ball. Of course when you're 11-3 in one run games this early in the season, your record is going to look good! ;)

The only other team that is extreme is poor Stoney who's sitting at 4-13  Dude, I feel for you except when you play me. :P

As for us, after tomorrow night's series with GB we play 6 of 7 and 7 of 9 series on the road. We're going to have to figure out how to play at better than a .333 win pct or we'll be out of it completely by the time those series end! :o
