I was thinking...

way...a thought...if all the outliers...Gates Brown...Barnes etc...were to have a limit to their plate appearances in the code...
so when they exceed 10% over they automatically go on 15 day dl...then when they come back they are somehow limited to play in only 50% of their teams remaining games...crazy I know but I am sure there is someway to figure it out...again...just a thought

I had a similar thought, only that injury rate increases with overusage. So when they hit 110% of their prorated AB(games played *AB/162) they move up 1 injury rating, so a 1 becomes a 1, a 1 becomes a 2 and so on. At 20%, they move up another, so a 1 becomes a 2, a 1 becomes a 3, a 2 a 4, and so on, increasing 1 injury slot for every 10% overusage. That would allow you to play them, but with increased injury risk. It would seem easy to do, if the injury roll was a 1-12 (for example) just move it to 1-11, 1-10 etc. I am sure a few hours of programming would be able to complete this.

anything to make it more risky to take on a high salary/low AB guy is worth it in my book.

I would like to see a drop dead code put in so that if any player exceeds 10 pct of their PA or innings pitched they would become gone for good. In this way using these players [Brown , Murray ect...] would be come a managing issue on usage . The pricing would require adjusting but the silly results of these guys be muted. Bill

I'd be ok with that, but the pricing would have to change DRAMATICALLY! Nobody gonna pay anywhere NEAR 5.32 for 49 innings of Barney Schultz

I think price is good... do you pick up a key player late in the season or do you use him sporadically

After what I saw in the new online football game, related to usage issues, I would tread very carefully here. And I agree that this would require repricing of the lower usage cards.

I don't think anything needs to be done by Strat on the baseball usage topic. It is easy enough to exclude these players from a league whenever desired. Either by rule, or via a custom subset of ATG8, which Strat will gladly create for you.
