Question regarding trading—-

Does “have the rights to...” mean only players from your franchise and selected year, or does it also mean players that you got in the draft, that played for your franchise in your era?

Does “have the rights to...” mean only players from your franchise and selected year, or does it also mean players that you got in the draft, that played for your franchise in your era?

You can trade away any player to whom you have exclusive rights, meaning

A) he played on your franchise your year and he didn’t play on any other league franchise in their year, or if so you won out because of more plate appearances etc. Example for 79 Pirates - Bill Madlock or Dock Ellis

Or

B) he played for your franchise any other year in your era, and he never played for any other league/era franchise in his career. Example for 79 Pirates - Barry Bonds or Roberto Clemente
