84 million dollar team in an 80 million dollar league?

PostTue Dec 05, 2017 3:22 am

How does this team have an 84+ million dollar payroll in an 80 million dollar league? Has anyone ever seen this before?

It must be because he lives in Santa Monica, CA...everything is more expensive there.

and there's $20,000 just sitting there doing nothing! What a waste

This is baffling. I've seen teams over the cap after the auto draft but never into the season...and that still have money left. WTH??

23 is minimum in the 80s. And how about the manager sitting in last place with $7M in the bank and has made no moves?

I think this might be possible in a very restricted play pool, when they run out of minimum salary players. The AD will give you a higher salaried player in that one case. But it's hard to believe there was nobody between .50 and 4.50 MM available.

This could be easily avoided if the roster chart added a line for each team with their total payroll. Then everyone would notice.

Sounds like a free credit situation to me, because this is not right....

Though, even with the extra 4 plus million he might struggle to take down my team.

I sent an email to the whole league, of course he did not respond, others did, but no one even suggested he should get his cap in compliance... The thing is, if we have to have Garcia and SOM do this, it could be well into half the season... That isn't right. I think a free credit is in order.

The same thing happened here too, to a lesser degree. But Sparky Anderson, gentleman he is, never went over the cap.
