Range Ratings Trivia.
Ages ago I asked SOM what the criteria was for a player to be rated at a position. They replied that one out at the position was sufficient.
Recently I asked if this yardstick still stood. SOM's reply:
Generally this is still the case. However if a player plays a second or third OF position with an extremely low number of innings, the secondary OF positions may not be eligible. Also, our research team lets us know that some positions may not be carded if the player did not truly play that position even if credited with an out (entered as 5th infielder but credited as an OF, credited a new position during a shift that they didn't play, etc.)
I'm revisiting this because Ozuna played 2 innings in RF this past year but is only rated in LF and CF (10 innings played). Now we know why.
