1: I just looked up the record. It is 116 wins. Matt is now at 112-41, with nine games left. If he goes 5-4 he will break the record. Pretty exciting!!!

2: If they lose in the first round against the Wild Card that would be pretty much just like the actual MLB playoffs.

How exciting- I just discovered this post about my team! 114 wins with 6 to go, 4 of whice I get to use my aces in.

Obviously luck is factor #1, 2, and 3. My expected wins based on differential has lagged behind my real total all season but my pace has been remarkably consistent.

I've been trying to find a balance of a top ace or 2 and then scrub starters with a well-rested bullpen (thanks to the aces) to rescue the scrubs. Something that helped me in this league is the ballpark distribution is very friendly to my heredia- Reuter - hensely - Morton- back of the rotation. Also I landed pitcher's park value gods Lajoie - Wagner - Dahleen. Bradley has rocked his platoon, the Chompsky Smith/Mazzili lead off platoon has worked well, and I discovered the delightful Riggs at 3b. Fun when things work out- now let's see if I can close this!!

Down to the wire! He's 115-41. One win tonight and he ties the record. Two wins and he breaks it.

116 wins is a tremendous accomplishment, but the all-time record for wins appears to be 122 by a hallerose $200 mil team (but the record books apparently don't track $200 mil records). 116 wins is in the record books for most wins by an $80 mil team, but also note in the thread below that MARCPELLETIER said that he had 118 wins with an $80 mil team many years ago, probably prior to the establishment of the ATG record book.

See the discussion thread below for more regarding teams with high win seasons:

My team took two of of three from him last night 8-) We're in the same division. Great team design, a tip of the hat to Always Terrible.

It's funny how it comes down to the last series of the season. Tough record to beat, but I learned a lesson here -- fielding does not count that much in platoons. He had some bad ratings, like playing 6.55 Honus Wagner at RF and Lee Mazzilli at 1B against right-handers, etc. Fielding is over-rated when you have two stud starters.
