Of the 8 who were dropped, there are 5 who are not carded in 2009. That leaves 3 who could go back on his roster:
Josh Fields, 3B/1B
Wes Helms, 3B/1B
Darin Erstad, 1B/LF/RF
With 13 position players on his roster, including the uncarded Grudzialanek, that leaves 12 carded, so 2 of the 3 above need to be reinstated.
The 15 pitchers on the roster included 4 uncarded, so the total of 11 carded is okay, but the mix is wrong. There are only 3 pure RP and a 4th one is needed. None of willmurr's previously dropped players qualify, so one more draft pick is
* * * * *
So, to revise my "simple" solution:
I propose that willmurr
- increase his original drop total from 8 to 10, by letting go of 2 of the 5 uncarded ones
- bring back 2 position players who were dropped inappropriately, to get to 14 carded ones
- drop Bruce Chen, his most recently drafted SP
- draft 1 more pure RP, instead
IMHO this is fine but I feel he should be required to keep Westbrook and Neshek who have some value in the future.
