This would add a really good-hitting dead-ball era catcher, and there aren't a lot of those. Plus, I read Chief's Glory of Their Times chapter recently, and I think he's a really cool guy who deserves his best card.

Rich Gedman '84 or '85. Splits aren't very good against LHP, but he'd be a great option in a platoon.

It seems that there is a dearth of quality new catchers' cards. Over the years, I've previously mentioned many of the cards suggested in this thread, such as Fisk, Gedman, Santiago, Kennedy & Fosse. All are worthy of serious consideration.

1983 Jody Davis, Cubs .271 24 84 .315 .480 .795 Career highs in H, HR, BA, SLG, OPS, OPS+ & TB. Long time Cubs catcher would be a big improvement over fan favorite Randy Hundley in the Post WWII & Expansion Era player set.

Also, while I understand the focus is on 1990 and earlier players, given the dearth of catchers, I hope Rosie makes an exception and allows us to vote on 2000 Charles Johnson.

2000 Charles Johnson, Orioles/White Sox (finished season with White Sox) .304 31 91 .379 .582 .961. Career highs in H, HR, RBI, BA, OBP, SLG, OPS, OPS+ & TB. Known primarily for outstanding defense in his 12 year big league career, Johnson exploded in 2000 with what was easily his best offensive season as he headed into free agency, becoming one of the few catchers in MLB history to hit 30 HRs in a season while batting .300. Expansion Era White Sox could use an upgrade at catcher.

I'll second the Charles Johnson nomination

I know this is a little late in the process but I have a few catchers I'd like to offer for consideration. These catchers also would strengthen the Tigers franchise at this position as well.
