FILLED "Chompsky Rules" League w/super-reliever restrictions

PostSun Jun 04, 2017 5:25 pm

This league is based off of Pacoboy's recent league, but with even stricter rules.

It is an 80m, 24 team DH League with 5% transactions for the entire year.

It uses a special "shuffle deck" called "Chompsky Rules." All relief pitchers with relief duration of R3, R4 and R5 are taken out (so no Dale Murray, no 1977 Bruce Sutter, No Johnny Miljus, etc).

Further, all Starting pitchers with relief duration of R3, R4 and R5 are taken out (so no 1909 Babe Adams, no 1906 Ed Reulbach or 1907 Jack Pfiester, etc).

Lastly, all hitting cards with 350 or less at bats have been removed. So no Gates Brown .

league is PUBLIC - no password.

Look for the SHUFFLE DECK called "Chompsky's Rules"

Draft type: Auto List Draft
Salary Cap: $80,000,000
FA Drop Penalty: 5%

Would LOVE to play in this league...
But I just can't bring myself to playing with any player card from 1986 on...
(Which I believe is the year PEDs came into baseball in a big way)...

Also think cards prior to 1903 should also always be excluded because from 1903 and before foul balls did not count as strikes. Can't imagine what Ted Williams or Babe Ruth would've hit if fouls didn't count as strikes.

Has there been cheating or things that would slant stats in years between 1903 and 1986?...sure...but nothing as dramatic as these two events in my opinion.

If you ever make a Chomsky and limit the cards to 1904 to 1985 ...let me know?

Such a league would be interesting (pre 1986)!! Although as Mets fan, I would certainly prefer pre-1987!! :D

There is probably a dramatic moral stain of some sort that applies to every era in baseball at least imho. First one that comes to mind for the post 1903 game is the exclusion of African-American players. Hard to taint the game worse than that. Which is not to minimize the warping of the game that PEDs caused.

Anyway, I encourage you to make a team of 1903-1986 players for this league. Since there are billions of cards in the set, even in this trimmed down set, you should have plenty of options in the team design and player choice! I use a lot of pre-1986 players in my small ball teams, and love to see the fly balls hit by the juiced up monsters stay in the park in Forbes 09!!

I will create my team from 1903-1985.

Prefer not to even play against teams that use players from before or after this ...but I do love your rp restrictions.

I also highly respect your great response. So...count me in.

Maybe...next league you will restrict all players to just 1903 to 1985 for all.

Bump!

If you don't like pitchers pitching in 108 games, and racking up 450 innings, getting 35 wins and 30 saves...then this may the league for you!

Why complain, when you can have it your way!! This will be a fun, fun league. With the restrictions, and with the 24 teams, there will be a narrowing of the starting pitching pool. And scarcity creates intrigue and hard choices---all the more fun!!!

Just a reminder, you need to scroll to the custom player set CHOMPSKY.

If you need any help figuring this out, just ask.

Let's get this league off the ground!

Well, I didn't think this league was going to fill. Now that it is filling I see I actually need to draft. I feel lost without Gates Brown, arroyo, Sutter, Wolfgang mellie..... I dont even think I've considered relievers of duration 1 or 2. Who the hell are these guys! I've never heard of them... Chompsky
