Third Basemen 18.1

I've used 61 Steve Boros (CDROM) and I think it's a dud. No D either.

Although I suggested a number of players at 3B, I was also planning on suggesting 1977 Eric Soderholm, but 2cityfan beat me to the punch. Soderholm's numbers are below:

1977 Eric Soderholm, White Sox .280 25 67 .350 .500 .850 Career highs in H, R, DO, 3B, HR, RBI, OBP, SLG, OPS & TB. Soderholm missed the entire 1976 season due to a serious knee injury and reconstructive surgery and the White Sox took a chance on him in 1977. Soderholm responded with his best big league season. A 2 fielder.

for when you didn't get Pendleton but were set on an affordable Switch-hitter 3b - a bit slow, (D 1-10, unless I misremember)

Buddy Lewis was an All-Star for the mid 30's/early 40's Senators. They need some help and he needs a more representative card.

.347/.404/.541/.945 This is an OPS+ of 174.
I don't know what his fielding rating is, but of AL thirdbasemen that year who played more than 1000 innings at third, he has the best RF/G and Fielding Percentage.

1912 Heinie Zimmerman, Cubs .372 14 104 .418 .571 .989, 41 DO, 14 TR, 23 SBs; Led league and had career highs in hits, DO, BA, HR, RBI, SLG, OPS, OPS+, TB & offensive WAR. A 13 year big leaguer and 3 time RBI champ with just 1 card of under $1 million, Zimmerman won the Triple Crown in 1912, but wasn't recognized for it until more than 100 years later when there was an RBI recount. To add insult to injury, he finished 6th in MVP voting that season!

Lansford 89. Bernie flagged this card so I am seconding his "nomination." Prefer this card to the '81 card as it is a full season. Strong rationale for including Lansford. He is a speedy, good fielding, small ball hitter who deserves one of his best seasons in ATG.
