I'd invite you all to take a close look at Chief Meyers. He was two cards, but this was by far his best offensive year. (I think he might rate a MBC). In the heart of the deadball era, Chief hit .358 with a .441 OBP (#1 in league) and a .918 OPS (#2 in league).
Meyers was considered an excellent defensive player--and he should be a highly effective hitter in small ball parks in this game. There aren't a lot of really good small ball catchers in the set. So I think this one would be heavily used.

I'm very much open to persuasion on the other catchers.

Outta Leftfield points out a hole in the stats I posted for some players. This time around I didn't review all the nominations to the level I typically do so some might be missing the proper; BC, MBC, MMBC designations. Sorry about that life got in the way a bit. Thanks for the catch OL!

We finally can get a good upgrade or a actual card for most of these players and yet Fisk and Cochrane are getting votes. Those cards are not better than their current best card. At least the Bench card hits righties better than his current cards.

I know franchise league players want the Fisk card but why the Cochrane card? If you want a better Tiger catcher card than get a better Lance Parrish card or just vote for the Rudy York catcher card that is already on the poll.

Agreed. Cochrane makes no sense to me. York was the easiest vote on the ballot to me.

I also don't get Cochrane. And I did vote for York.

For the Detroit franchise, York gives a .995 OPS /140 OPS+ versus Cochrane's .840/117—and York's 4(0)3 defense is not prohibitive. And simply as a card, Cochrane's 1934 offense is far weaker than on his two existing cards.

While I don't get the Cochrane pick either, it's his MVP season.

I went with Cochrane because other two cards are with Philly A's... this would be Detroit and his MVP season.
same with Fisk..only other two are with BOSOX and he actually played more years with the CHISOX.
Voted for Spanky too... and the Chief... when you compare that Bench has 4 or 5 cards, I liked adding Cochrane MVP, left-handed hitting catcher.

I nominated the Tiger Cochrane (along with Nokes and Pudge) to try and give the Tigers franchise more options at catcher.

I wasn't aware that Rudy York was primarily a catcher is his early years and I really like the nomination of his card.

I am also kicking myself for forgetting one of my favorite Tigers from when I was a kid, Bill Freehan. Any of the following years would be nice with 1964 probably being the most balanced.

1964 .300/.350/.462.812
1967 .282/.389.447/.835
1971 .277/.353/.465/.818
1974 .297/.361/.479/.840

Glad to see Bubbles getting some late love. Nice to see a player without a card in the set making a run. I don't know how much it'll be used, but a nice historical add.
