So what's the consensus on who Strat piles into the unleashed set?
My guesses:
Pitchers
Syndergaard Gillito Mengden Chen- though he may just lose his S rating and become a pure relief
Hitters:
Robles, though he's very one sided and hs fewer than 50 ab's he may not be in at all. Hazelbaker Olsen( Oak) Maybe Alfaro, though catchers are always tough to tell
And maybe Eaton, though again He'll have a big injury number
Why Olson? He had 189 AB's with 211 PA's. If he is unleashed then Hoskins is also as he had 170 AB's with 207 PA's. Both should be in the regular set and priced accordingly.
Look I'm just GUESSING. So Olsen may just be in. There is precedent for a player with over 200 PA not being allowed in the game though which is what lead to the Unleashed set being developed in the first place. That said, they haven't left a player with that many PA's out of the regular set in a long time so you may be right. Which may mean an even better chance of Hazelbaker being in.
See I have this therory that ever since they came up with the whole Unleashed set idea, they are now obligated to find 7-10 players to put in it. So if Olsen is out that may mean Hazelbaker has a better shot.
I'll say again it's all rampant speculation on my part. As I've said many times I wish they'd scrap the whole Unleashed set and just include all the carded players in one set, but this seems to be the only way to get all the cards so we're stuck with it. It would be nice though if they'd leave the S/R pitchers with both ratings in Unleashed instead of changing those guys they deem should be relievers only.
But I am glad to see the thread finally sparked some conversation.
Unless Strat-O-Matic changes their criteria for who gets carded and who doesn't I don't see how Hazelbaker doesn't get carded after the OF with the Giants (Jarrett Parker) a couple seasons ago went unleashed - with many more HRs and less PA's than Hazelbaker this past season.
