Closer v. Lefties, Righties

PostTue Mar 06, 2018 12:38 pm

Has anyone used the closer v. lefties or righties setting? Just wondering how that works in practice. Does the left closer get yanked immediately if a righty comes in and vice versa?

Thanks

I think it depends a bit on if you have "QUICK hook" on, and "Avoid Righties". It will also depend on who else is available in the bullpen, etc.....

I use them quite a bit. I like to make my last 2 guys in the bullpen reasonably cheap high R/L guys (hassler, shirley, linzy, garman tim scott, etc). Depending on the lineup of the team I am playing, I might put them even before my closer, especially if my top 2 bullpen guys are both reasonably good. Normally I list them right after my regular closer just in case he needs to come out for some reason.

I am of the belief that HAL really doesn't like to pinch hit, so often times you can get a good at bat or 2 out of those guys.
