Very pleased to select Raul Valdes. His 2012 card is one of my all-time favorites. I used him on 4 teams as a super-reliever, including one season in which he won the Cy Young Award.

The average results for those 4 seasons were:
99 games
244 IP
15-6 W/L record
13 saves vs. 4 BS
2.89 ERA
1.03 WHIP

And for this league, 2012 is the season Mariano Rivera sits out, prior to coming back to finish up in 2013 -- very pleased to get Valdes, indeed!

Wow your current team must be loaded if you can afford to pick up a one year RP replacement 2 seasons from now. Kudos!

I don't know about loaded, but ya gotta plan ahead!

On the other hand, I have:
- 10 position players, at avg sal of $6.0 mil (incl 1 platoon)
- 4 SP* at avg sal of $6.7 mil
- top 2 RP at avg sal of $5.0 mil

Looking forward to this season...

Need a rules clarification. We had to protect at least 18 from last year pre draft. Now that the draft has started are we allowed to trade players for future picks to the point where we have fewer than the original 18 left? And if so, does that mean you could pick in as many rounds of the current draft till you get to the full 28 players as well? I have traded 2 players and will be trading a third at the end of the draft so I was wondering if that means I can't trade any more.

No worries, the "min = 18" rule only applies to a team's status at the start of the draft. After that, your number of draft picks grows or shrinks, as needed. In practice, you make a pick in each round if you have fewer than 28 on your roster when your turn rolls around.

Not sure how to interpret this phrase.

If you trade a player for a future pick before this draft ends, then you can take another draft pick (and the other manager gives up his final draft pick).

If you trade one of your 28 for a future pick after the draft ends, then you play the season at 27 (and the other manager has to drop somebody).
