Not Sure Why

Willie McGee rolled 3-7 against a RH pitcher. Card says single. Result was a line out. Anybody have an explanation? Maybe some hidden rule I don't know about?

The Card image is wrong for various 1985 players. "SI" is really a split reading off a 20 side die.
