Joined Marines Aug 1973 served in Camp Lejeune, NWS Earle NJ, MCAS El Toro, MCAS Miramar and lots of other bumps and stops along the way. Retired in 1998. THANK GOD!!!! Oh, I was an enlisted puke.
I took one class in Air Force ROTC in college. But did not choose to move on. Doesn't count I know, not quite a fit for what I wanted to study (political science, history and English), did it to please my West Point Army dad, though I enjoyed learning about the Air Force military history.
Loadmaster on C-5 Galaxy airplanes, Travis Air Force Base California 1978-87. We loaded the plane and flew with the cargo as a member of the flight crew so I did a lot of traveling to military bases all over the world.
Point man in Vietnam 1970-71. Worked with 4th infantry, 1st aviation Brigade, 5th Mech and 101st Airborne. Entered country in Saigon trained at Ben Hoa then moved to Central Highlands An Khe(4th Infantry) and also Pleiku( 1st Aviation Brigade). Worked towards the coast at Nha Trang then sent North to Quang Tri( 5th Mech) where I worked the demilitiarized zone. Worked in support of Laos Invasion out of Khe Sanh( 101st Airborne).Three small wounds some medals and the experience of a life time.
