Don't know much about the rule, but changing it midstream is BS. Give people notice before changing rules instead of screwing paid customers.

So does this mean all these great bunter cards are overpriced now? Have a hard time believing they never factored bunting in the pricing. Now it's sorta messed up the pricing.

In the computer game , almost nobody tries to bunt for a base hit. It is an awful strategy. The only time it would make any sense at all would be if you had , say , a cheap 9R batter facing a tough lefty reliever. In the CDROM leagues I'm in, even the new managers that try it will give it up after a few tries.

An “A” bunter with 17 speed bunting against a team with a 4 fielder at 1B 3B and Catcher would bat .400 every time they attempted to bunt for a single, not even counting the X out chances that arrive from attempting to bunt for a hit “B” bunters are .380 against the same. Of course also being able to bunt means perhaps playing the corners in which also increases the chance of a hit so there is no need to play corners in any situation now. And you only get to being able to bunt for a hit 20% of the time you are thinking about it so most of the time it was prevented.
Bunting can be virtually stopped if you don’t want to do it by putting bunting to conservative or very conservative, seems like this only helps teams that want to put in bad fielders at C 1B 3B AND P for more hitters and play 9R and 9L players and don’t want to have bunts against them- like I don’t know Gates Brown at first base. I never saw any thread complaining about this did I miss this?

Mickey Mantle had 87 bunt singles in his career, Babe Ruth had 10 bunt singles AFTER he turned 35. Brett Butler had 42 base hits for bunts IN ONE SEASON!

That is simply not true. Where are you getting those numbers? Even the computer game tells you in the rules that you cannot see the exact chance of success, but that the high end of it is more like .250, and I would hope my worst hitters could get on base at better than a .250 clip!

In 2014 I sent them an email explaining that I went through all 162 boxscores for a recently completed team and found that players who tried to bunt for a base hit (not counting sacrifice bunts) were 18 for 64. That's an on base average of .281. And I had extra conservative for bunting. The problem is that the players who are bunting for base hits are the high on base speed types - Charleston, Morgan, Cobb, Wagner, etc. So bunting for a base hit is a bad decision. They said it was on their list to fix. The wheels of justice grind slow but sure.

You can set bunting to no for a player, and they won't attempt it!! Why would you ever want those hitters to be bunting? Or you can set bunting extra aggressive and put do not bunt on all your players and leave bunt more for players that have no hitting but still can bunt great - some of the good defensive substitutes fall into this category and they can be playable. Wert, Kennedy at 3B Vic Power Stan Javier at 2B were all very usable thanks to the controls. There are eight players under 800K in salary with a 2 in defense or better, 16 in running or better and an A bunter. Their value has just been reduced.

And an overall base average of about .281 is about right if you are a B bunter with 14 speed against a "2" range fielder it is a hit you will average .230 and then have some more chances via defense. The penalty is really strong once worse fielders are on the corners. Here is a link that has the advanced rules on bunting explained pretty well.

You like to throw "that is simply not true" around quite a bit even when you don't actually know the answer it seems to me.
