First, thanks to Rosie for doing something and getting this thing going. Because, people like to complain but don't want to step up and do the work of running the tournament. And as past commissioner, it is a lot of work and not a lot of fun to run the tournament. Second, regarding the sign-ups - it is slow only because SOM has not posted a header advertising the Tournament; however, if the rules are not completely fleshed out, it may be too early to post a header.
Ok, now my complaints (despite my complaints about complainers). The new rules seem to require a significant amount of work on behalf of SOM. How amenable is SOM to complying with the new format? I think more updates would be nice from both SOM (unlikely) and Rosie. I'm not 100% confident that things will run smoothly - is there a plan B if the tournament is falling apart? It has been my experience that some people do not like any rule changes after the start of the tournament and I doubt that every contingency has been thought through. In the past, the Tournament has been an excellent tool for introducing inexperienced players to the Mystery format - I think that 8 leagues will discourage some new players. In fact, I kind of feel that the rules are designed for mid-level players, which is fine but I think it would be better to run separate tournaments, one traditional Mystery Tournament and one new-rules tournament; they could run simultaneously; I think only running the new-rules tournament runs the risk of lowering morale in the mystery leagues if the new-rules league doesn't go well. Finally, if Mike (ducky) is lurking out there - you were the best commissioner imo and, if you are lurking out there, I'd love to hear your comments.
Anyway, I am grateful that Rosie has come forward and I would love to again play in a Mystery Tournament!!!
