Well....we haven't heard from the commissioner since the changes were proposed. I'm willing to help, but we need some guidance ASAP.

I heard from Rosie yesterday, and he's dealing with some outside issues and it looks as if he won't be able to run this as he'd planned.

Based on some of the feedback here it would seem to make sense to revert to the traditional format at this time. I'm willing to help get it off the ground but I've got some very busy business travel scheduled for the next few months and will be hard pressed just to manage my own teams.

If someone else wants to take the horns, I don't think that Rosie will see it as being pushed aside. In fact I think he'd welcome it.

Not entirely sure what all would be involved but I would volunteer to help or co-commissioner with someone. I think that Rosie should do two things: Post here that we are returning to the original format....and also edit his initial post in this thread to reflect that after some debate and spinning of wheels the 2019 tournament will be played using the same format as the past few years.

I second everything that dcmt wrote. It really would be helpful if Rosie would check in to either take strong control of the tournament or say he is withdrawing as commissioner and revise the initial post to say it will be the traditional format. I was commissioner for the last tournament, if no one else wants to, I could be a co-commissioner if people volunteer to pitch in, but if someone else wants to step up I would be more than happy to let someone else be commissioner.

I do believe a 2019 tournament can be held under the old format. The start date definitely will not be 1/14 since the tournament hasn't been posted by Strat and the sign-ups are severely short of what is needed for the tournament. My suggestion is a start date of 2/4 with cutoff sign-ups by 1/21. Each decade should start two weeks after the prior decade to keep manager's focused. I know there are managers that only want to focus on one or maybe two teams at most, but the larger the delay between the start of each decade, the harder it is to corral all the managers when it is time to enter their respective teams.

I agree with that format and schedule except I would favor an extra week delay between the 70s and 80s. So, Feb 4, 2019 would be opening day and the tournament would have exactly the same format as the previous four tournaments.

Hi franky35, like dcmt, I am also willing to be a co-commissioner and help out in any way possible. Can you make an official executive decision, in Rosie's absence, that we are definitely using the old format, and make your proposed start date final?

an update. If you read this thread, I hope you will agree that it is reasonable to replace Rosie as commissioner and revert back to the traditional rules. Juiced JC and I have contacted SOM and asked that Rosie's initial post be removed and replaced with a post that the Tournament will be changed to the traditional format. So, that is the direction we are heading. The sign-up list will be retained. Everyone who has signed-up will be considered to be signed up for the traditional format and Rosie's rules will not be in force for this year's tournament. Sign-ups will continue and I'll make another post.
