Took mornings off today and tomorrow, but I gotta go to work now, no SOM access there. Be back around 5 p.m. I can make picks because I commandered a Mifi and downloaded the SOM app to my cell phone, but since I absolutely refuse to ever text, I will email Moose with my picks if I am up before 5 p.m.

Just found this thread. I agonized about the Heredia pick - in fact, I tried to change my proxy at the last moment but the pick had already been made - and then I felt huge waves of relief, so I'm happy to have done it.

Having Druid with 2 picks right after me, knowing he is fond of Heredia, and seeing him already pick Pineiro, makes me content to reach for Heredia rather than freak out for 24 hours over whether I would lose him. He absolutely can function at $100m. (Sometimes.)

tmfw if you have it handy, what numbers have you gotten out of Heredia in a 100m league? IP, wins, losses, era? If you're getting a 500 record out of him for 20+ starts a season, then I would agree with you that he is well worth the 1M that he costs.

Just had a look at some past $100m's with Heredia. Recency bias is at play here because he just had kind of an outlier: 15-5 record, 4.9era.

In the other ones I looked at he was 10-7 5.63, 8-7 4.97, 7-10 6.24, 11-8 4.62 and 7-6 7.13. (don't want to share links until another round or 2 because some of those teams look eerily familiar to what I'm trying to do here).

So he's generally hovers around .500, which is what I'm hoping for if his role to hold serve in a 1 or 2-ace rotation. Concept here of course is the aces are supposed to go 26-10 with the added offensive money freed up by super-scrubs like Gil.

Those are great lines. Holding serve with a 1M sp is incredible.

Sutton is too rich for my blood. I just trot John Halama out there and say my prayers (yes, even at $100mil sometimes). Somebody's gotta pay for Babe Ruth and George Brett.
