EXPANSION (1967-1998) SCRUBS--No Card

PostThu Feb 28, 2019 10:01 pm

Many have said that we don't know what we are getting when we nominate cards, so I've taken some time to put some stats together from some cards, using Diamond Dope and Veterans 1975 for the park, since it's kind of neutral (10,10,10,10). I asked Bill for his permission/blessing to do this. So I'll be posting some card add ideas, thoughts, etc to hopefully keep interest up and give folks some stuff to actually discuss on the boards.

Looking for some decent DEFENSIVE Substitutes, fournd a few in the 1967-1998 "Set That I Made Up".
Selected for their defense and ability to play multiple positions. Because of the way the voting/nominations are set up, I don't know how you'd ever get them in the ATG set, but they'd be nice to have.

1976 Chris Arnold, SF, Bats-R, 4L Balance, 2b-4e0/SS-4e0/1b-4e0/3b-4e65
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 6 BB 245/287/245, .532 OPS
RH--0 2b, 3 3b, 0 HR, 3 BB 029/056/086, .141 OPS
The range isn't great, but no errors at multiple positions sounds at least usable.

1993 Craig Grebeck, CWS, Bats-R, 1R Balance, 2b-3e5/SS-3e14/3b-3e39
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 9 BB 192/259/192, .451 OPS
RH--0 2b, 0 3b, 2.2 HR, 28 BB 171/386/253, .639 OPS
3's, but hitting is bad enough that it should be cheap.

1989 Steve Jeltz, PHI, Bats-S, 2L Balance, SS-2e10/2b-2e13/3b-2e30/CF-4(+3)e16
LH--0.2 2b, 1.8 3b, 0.3 HR, 27 BB 293/476/351, .828 OPS
RH--0.2 2b, 1 3b, 1.2 HR, 16 BB 212/336/275, .610 OPS
Really good defense, might be even usable in a platoon vs LHP at low caps with that OBP.

1998 Ruben Rivera, SD, Bats-R, 4L Balance, CF/LF/RF-1(-3)e9, Steal: *7/-(19-11)
LH--6.5 2b, 1.4 3b, 6.9 HR, 12 BB 223/324/540, .864 OPS
RH--0 2b, 0.6 3b, 1.9 HR, 32 BB 035/339/128, .467 OPS
Very good OF defense at all three positions, some interesting Power numbers vs LHP, interesting OBP vs RHP

1997 Rey Sanchez, CHC, Bats-R, E Balance, 2b-2e14/SS-2e24/3b-3e25
LH--8.6 2b, 0 3b, 1.2 HR, 0 BB 284/291/398, .688 OPS
RH--6.6 2b, 0 3b, 1.2 HR, 0 BB 302/308/397, .705 OPS
Good sub at 3 IF Spots, decent enough hitting that he might not be too cheap, but a good add for this purpose.

1997 Jose Vizcaino, SF, Bats-S, 1R Balance, 2b-2e15/SS-2e19
LH--3.6 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 15 BB 219/328/258, .586 OPS
RH--0.2 2b, 2.2 3b, 2.2 HR, 4 BB 271/298/378, .677 OPS
Another aid at key Middle Infield spots.

1988 Lee's defense is not good. 2b-3e11, SS-3e52, 3b-3e53.

1978 Randall 2b-2e17, 3b-4e65. Doesn't really qualify as a sub to me, would need usage at at least a couple of positions.

One of my favorite all-time card: Nick Punto,

https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/925/2009/1/2009

The ultimate bench infielder: great defense at all 3 positions, nice stealing numbers, perfect bunt and hit-and-run, could get on base. Was 1.08 in 20XX, he should be 0.75M in ATG.

Lynn jones, ‘85. Really not good for anything but OF defense.

2009 Nick Punto, MIN, Bats-S, 1L Balance, 2b-2e5, SS-2e21, 3b-2e11, Steal: *4,5/-(19-12)
LH--2.8 2b, 0 3b, 1.6 HR, 17 BB 189/325/274, .598 OPS
RH--1.6 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 22 BB 168/345/186, .531 OPS

I like it. Would be a nice add, and stinky enough hitting that he should be a good cheap infield option.

1985 Lynn Jones, KC, Bats-R, 2R Balance, RF/LF/CF-2(-1)e7
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 0 BB 161/192/161, .352 OPS
RH--10.6 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 4 BB 231/288/337, .625 OPS

He'd be a .50-.60m bench OF guy, wouldn't be a bad addition.
