For instance bump up the initial roster limit to 26 to allow for 15 hitters.
Cal, you also flagged a couple of rules for clarification on the Google Sheet.
What I had in mind to propose between seasons (and never got around to, unfortunately) was simply to allow any roster that meets SOM rules any time during our season. That way you won't have to worry about remembering to promote or demote around injuries on your roster, and I won't have to worry about policing it. I don't believe those last 1 to 3 players make much difference, if any, on the game play, and even if they did, so what? SOM 365 already constrains our rosters... why constrain them further and add complication?
In the Googledoc rules, here is what I propose:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yQgX98fW6kZdedqJ52ra5AqqsA63_D3T7y4l6pWYXl4/edit?authkey=CJmTjhc&hl=en&authkey=CJmTjhc&hl=en&authkey=CJmTjhc#gid=11Eliminate Roster Rules 2, 3, 4 and 6:
2) Each team must carry a 25 man league roster during each season.
3) Each may carry up to a 5 man minor league roster during each season.
4) Each team may add an additional 3 players (to a maximum of 28 players) to their MLB roster once game 132 has been played.
6) Injured players can be kept on a team's major league roster for the duration of their injury. Players promoted to the major league roster as injury replacements must be returned to the minor league roster once the injury has healed. There is a 2-game grace period to return injury replacement players to the minor league roster - this allows each owner to maintain a constant 25 man roster at all times. We will be using the honor system here - please don't keep players beyond their authorized time! Replace with a statement that each roster must conform to SOM 365 roster limit rules.
I know it's late and we are mid-draft, but let's put it to a vote.
PROPOSAL:
Eliminate Roster Rules 2, 3, 4 and 6. Replace with a statement that each roster must conform to SOM 365 roster limit rules.Vote either:
YES 2019 - Yes, and implement the change this year. If we do not get enough votes to implement this year, let's do it next year.
YES 2020 - Yes, but since we are already drafting, let's wait until next year to implement
NO - Let's continue playing with rules 2, 3, 4 and 6 in place
There must be at least 16 "YES 2019" votes for the change to take effect this year.
There must be at least 16 "YES 2019" and "YES 2020" votes combined for the change to take effect next year.
9 "NO" votes ends the discussion.
