D-Backs Stats to Inform the Vote

PostTue Mar 19, 2019 3:59 pm

2001 D-Backs Hitters

The 57 HR Luis Gonzalez is already in the set.

Rod Barajas, Bats-R, 1L Balance, C-3(+1)e2, ONLY 106 ABs
LH--8.3 2b, 0 3b, 0.2 HR, 0 BB 081/081/164. .245 OPS
RH--0 2b, 0 3b, 3.6 HR, 0 BB 050/050/148, .198 OPS
He'd be a .50 catcher, but would be usable in certain instances. Depends on where we want to cut off ABs....

Danny Bautista, Bats-R, 4R Balance, RF-2(-2)e4, CF-3(-2)e4
LH--0.9 2b, 4 3b, 2.4 HR, 0 BB 222/229/372, .601 OPS
RH--6.5 2b, 0 3b, 2.8 HR, 9 BB 413/468/565, 1.032 OPS
The defense and good against RHP would make him a decent add, especially for smaller caps.

Jay Bell, Bats-R, 2R Balance, SS-3e24, 2b-4e4, 2 INJ Rating
LH--3.8 2b, 0 3b, 1.5 HR, 15 BB 168/299/259, .557 OPS
RH--5.5 2b, 0 3b, 2.8 HR, 21 BB 253/412/414, .826 OPS
Better defense and he would be usable. Pretty much a sub...…..

Greg Colbrunn, Bats-R, E Balance, 1b-4e18, 3b-4e47, Probably a 5-6 INJ Rating, ONLY 97 ABs
LH--10.5 2b, 0 3b, 7.8 HR, 8 BB 253/364/620, .983 OPS
RH--9.4 2b, 0 3b, 2.8 HR, 11 BB 334/451/532, .983 OPS
Pretty decent offense, but the injury thing......and the ABs thing....

Craig Counsell, Bats-L, 2L Balance, 2b-2e4, SS-3e18, 3b-3e12, 1b-3e25
LH--7 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 21 BB 349/481/430, .911 OPS
RH--2.5 2b, 0.8 3b, 2 HR, 12 BB 255/345/360, .705 OPS
This compares to his current card. The current card is slanted heavily RH, this one is slanted towards LHP but STILL USABLE vs RHP. Plus, all those defensive positions he could sub at. This card looks like one of the reasons why we want a full team add every so often.

Dave Dellucci, Bats-L, 5R Balance, RF/LF-2(+1)e4, CF-3(+1)e4
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 0 BB 189/204/189, .392 OPS
RH--4.3 2b, 1.2 3b,6.5 HR, 8 BB 291/356/558, .915 OPS
Could be part of a small time platoon

Mike Difelice, Bats-R, 2R Balance, C-3(0)e6, 170 ABs
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 0 BB 064/072/064, .136 OPS
RH--1.3 2b, 1.4 3b, 0.5 HR, 3 BB 138/170/190, .361 OPS
.50 Catcher with usable defense

Erubiel Durazo, Bats-L, 5R Balance,1b-4e11, RF-5(+2)e16, 175 ABs, 2 INJ Rating
LH--6.4 2b, 0 3b, 2.8 HR, 9 BB 095/188/247, .435 OPS
RH--5.9 2b, 0 3b, 10.4 HR, 21 BB 303/451/739, 1.190 OPS
I remember the D-Backs and then the A's kept trying to find a way to get this guy's bat in their lineup. That line vs RHp looks fun, and the Injury thing would keep his salary low.

Steve Finley, Bats-L, 3R Balance, CF-1(-1)e3
LH--8.2 2b, 0 3b, 0.8 HR, 4 BB .194/224/294, .518 OPS
RH--4.5 2b, 1.2 3b, 2.8 HR, 6 BB 294/333/442, .775 OPS
Would be a cheap 1 CF, his offense wasn't very good this season.

Mark Grace, Bats-L, 1R Balance, 1b-2e7, 2 INJ Rating
LH--6.8 2b, 0.8 3b, 2.4 HR, 13 BB 314/409/482, .891 OPS
RH--6.6 2b, 0 3b, 3.9 HR, 16 BB 328/440/528, .968 OPS

Damian Miller, Bats-R, 1L Balance, C-2(-1)e1
LH--6.7 2b, 0 3b, 2.5 HR, 15 BB 325/431/481, .913 OPS
RH--3.9 2b, 0 3b, 4.8 HR, 4 BB 279/319/457, .777 OPS
Decent catcher with defense and enough offense. Probably 1.5m?

Reggie Sanders, Bats-R, 2L Balance, RF-3(0)e1, 2 INJ Rating
LH--2.9 2b, 0.9 3b, 18 HR, 8 BB 229/300/828, 1.128 OPS
RH--4.1 2b, 0.5 3b, 8.8 HR, 10 BB 236/321/565, .886 OPS
Got some power here, not anything else...…….

Junior Spivey, Bats-R, 4L Balance, 2b-3e11, SS-4e48, 163 ABs
LH--10.6 2b, 1.9 3b, 5 HR, 22 BB 315/467/662, 1.129 OPS
RH--0 2b, 1 3b,0.6 HR, 16 BB 203/336/246, .582 OPS
Good line vs LHP, don't know how much he gets used as a 3.....

Matt Williams, Bats-R, 4L Balance, 3b-2e15, SS-4e48, 3 INJ Rating
LH--8.1 2b, 0 3b, 11 HR, 0 BB 344/356/732, 1.089 OPS
RH--9.7 2b, 0 3b, 2.3 HR, 4 BB 257/299/419, .717 OPS
Ok vs LHP

Tony Womack, Bats-L, 3R Balance, SS-3e32, CF-4(+1)e3, Steal: *2-5,11,12/-(19-13), 2 INJ Rating
LH--0.4 2b, 1.4 3b, 0 HR, 0 BB 167/190/197, .387 OPS
RH--2.7 2b, 1.2 3b, 1.6 HR, 0 BB 281/301/375, .676 OPS
How do you use him? Cheap DH is it...…...

Re: D-Backs Stats to Inform the Vote

1999 D-Backs Hitters

1999 Matt Williams already in the set.

Jay Bell, Bats-R, 4L Balance, 2b-3e25, SS-4e22
LH--6.4 2b, 2.7 3b, 9.6 HR, 32 BB 423/600/965, 1.564 OPS
RH--4.2 2b, 0.9 3b, 9.8 HR, 9 BB 277/344/636, .979 OPS
He's better here than 2001, especially that LHP line; but still, where does he play?

Greg Colbrunn, Bats-R, 4L Balance, 1b-4e6, 3b-5e65, ONLY 135 ABs
LH--0 2b, 5.4 3b, 5.9 HR, 7 BB 419/489/718, 1.207 OPS
RH--9.9 2b, 0 3b, 2.4 HR, 7 BB 285/371/465, .836 OPS
Nice platoon option, though he didn't have a lot of ABs in 1999.

Dave Dellucci, Bats-L, 8R Balance, CF/LF/RF-2(+1)e4, 5 INJ Rating, ONLY 109 ABs
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 0 BB 244/286/244, .530 OPS
RH--8 2b, 1.2 3b, 2.1 HR, 12 BB 561/634/745, 1.379 OPS
Outstanding vs RHP, but is that too few ABs, and too good/expensive a line?

Erubiel Durazo, Bats-L, 5R Balance, 1b-4e5, 155 ABs
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 7.5 HR, 28 BB 180/400/465, .866 OPS
RH--0 2b, 2.1 3b, 11.3 HR, 18 BB 411/514/837, 1.351 OPS
Again, awesome line vs RHP, but is it too good/expensive for a player with Durazo's career?

Steve Finley, Bats-L, 1R Balance, CF-1(-1)e2
LH--5.6 2b, 0.5 3b, 8.2 HR, 6 BB 268/315/577, .892 OPS
RH--4.9 2b, 3.6 3b, 9.4 HR, 15 BB 272/380/710, 1.089 OPS
Much better Finley than the 2001 version.

Andy Fox, Bats-L, 2R Balance, SS-4e28, 3b-4e41, 2 INJ Rating
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 10 BB 181/310/181, .492 OPS
RH--4.5 2b, 1 3b, 2.2 HR, 5 BB 250/333/386, .719 OPS
Not very usable...…cheap sub, but defense is bad

Hanley Frias, Bats-S, 2R Balance, SS-4e21, 2b-4e37, 150 ABs
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 20 BB 217/362/217, .579 OPS
RH--0 2b, 2.9 3b, 1.8 HR, 23 BB 282/435/411, .845 OPS
Not very usable defense, good OBP though

Bernard Gilkey, Bats-R, 4L Balance, LF-3(-1)e11, RF-4(-1)e11
LH--15 2b, 1.4 3b, 3.8 HR, 22 BB 381/519/726 1.245 OPS
RH--2.7 2b, 0 3b, 5.3 HR, 7 BB 258/319/443, .763 OPS
Ok representation of Gilkey, should do well in a platoon. Not as balanced as his current card in the set.

Luis Gonzalez, Bats-L, 1R Balance, LF-3(+2)e6
LH--11.1 2b, 0.6 3b, 0.3 HR, 15 BB 397/492/542, 1.034 OPS
RH--7.6 2b, 0.5 3b, 7.7 HR, 6 BB 398/443/715, 1.158 OPS
Probably a 6m card, give or take. Would be a good middle of the road representation.

Lenny Harris, Bats-L, Balance, 3R Balance, LF/RF-4(+1)e18, 2b-5e71, 3b-5e20, 187 ABs
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 2.5 HR, 0 BB 213/213/282, .495 OPS
RH--9.8 2b, 0 3b, 1 HR, 0 BB 345/345/463, .808 OPS
Nice pinch-hitter, but where does he play?

Travis Lee, Bats-L, 1R Balance, 1b-2e5, RF-4(+2)e16, 2 INJ Rating
LH--2.7 2b, 0 3b, 2.8 HR, 10 BB 174/251/286, .537 OPS
RH--2.4 2b, 0.6 3b, 1 HR, 19 BB 206/345/280, .625 OPS
Ugh.

Damian Miller, Bats-R, 5L Balance, C-4(0)e2
LH--17.5 2b, 0 3b, 7.3 HR, 1 BB, 341/360/717, 1.076 OPS
RH--2 2b, 0 3b, 3.3 HR, 2 BB 240/269/355, .623 OPS
Nice platoon C.

Kelly Stinnett, Bats-R, 3L Balance, C-3(+1)e3
LH--6.4 2b, 0 3b, 6.1 HR, 1 BB 308/340/548, .888 OPS
RH--2.7 2b, 0 3b, 7.1 HR, 8 BB 171/263/420, .683 OPS
Poor man's Damian Miller.

Turner Ward, Bats-S, 2R Balance, CF/LF/RF-4(+1)e13, ONLY 114 ABs
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 12 BB 146/256/146, .402 OPS
RH--0 2b, 0 3b, 2.1 HR, 16 BB 221/350/291, .641 OPS
Would be a .50 backup OF.

Tony Womack, Bats-L, 1L Balance, RF-3(-1)e3, CF-4(-1)e3, 2b-4e19, SS-5e10, Steal: *2-6,11/-(19-15)
LH--2.1 2b, 0.6 3b, 2.5 HR, 6 BB 329/372/436, .808 OPS
RH-- 2.7 2b, 3.2 3b, 0.8 HR, 6 BB 270/317/382, .699 OPS
Better option for Womack in this season, because he actually has a position he could play reasonably well.

RH--7.8 1b, 5.5 2b, 0 3b, 0.8 HR, 5 BB 136/176/212, .388 OPS
Not bad here, a wild guess thinks he lands around 2m?

Omar Daal, Throws-L, 3L Balance, S7* ( I think he'd receive the *, 214 IP)
LH--5 1b, 7 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 2 BB 113/130/179, .309 OPS
RH--8.1 1b, 4.4 2b, 1.3 3b, 2.4 HR, 10 BB 164/242/308, .550 OPS

RH--1.4 1b, 0 2b, 0 3b, 5.7 HR, 14 BB 076/195/257, .453 OPS
All those HR make it difficult to see being used much?

Dan Plesac, Throws-L, 9L Balance, R1
LH--12.1 1b, 0 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 0 BB 112/112/112, .224 OPS
RH--14.4 1b, 12.1 2b, 2 3b, 12.5 HR, 14 BB 436/509/1.006, 1.516 OPS

Armando Reynoso, Throws-R, 2L Balance, S6/R3

RH--8.1 1b, 3.8 2b, 0 3b, 2.2 HR, 10 BB 144/223/250, .473 OPS
A cheap 5R starter, may land around 1.10 or so...…

Greg Swindell, Throws-L, 5L Balance, R2
LH--12.3 1b, 2.2 3b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 0 BB 134 /134/155, .289 OPS
RH--5.3 1b, 0 2b, 3.8 3b, 6.8 HR, 10 BB 162/239/447, .687 OPS
good hard LHP, maybe low 2m's

Re: D-Backs Stats to Inform the Vote

1999 Plusses
Better Finley (than 2001)
Better Womack
Platoon guys like Durazo, Dellucci, Colbrunn
Good LH mashing Gilkey
Decent reliever in Chouinard
Decent LH starter in Omar Daal
A good BH Kim card
Good LH hitting Jay Bell card (but no Defense to go with)
A good 2+M LH Reliever in Swindell
a .90 LOOGY in Plesac

2001 Plusses
STRONG BH Kim card
Very good Counsell card that's good at a number of positions
decent Mark Grace
Durazo/Dellucci platoon options
decent 5-day starter Miguel Batista
Danny Bautista decent RH vs RHP

I say it's 1999.

Thanks very much Andy for all of your efforts. Looks like 1999 is getting some traction.

With 4 cards from 1999 already in, we can choose to add a few cards from 2001 as well.

Bill
