2019 Mystery Tournament - Finals Draft

PostWed May 29, 2019 12:10 pm

We are playing the 70s, 80 mil, DH, unique stadiums (you must draft a stadium at some time in the live draft). Serpentine draft order. Seeded divisions. Hey, ho, let's go! Here are the first 6: Adam you are up

The question that I had was if draft trades were allowed (I'm not aware if this has come up in previous tournament drafts). I would say that draft trades are not allowed because some would say it could be unfair, but if everyone thinks draft trades should be allowed, then I guess they should be. Trades in the preseason or season are allowed as normal. Anyway, back to the actual question, I cannot see any advantage to passing. Your next pick doesn't come for 20+ turns, so how does it help? I'd say yes, you can pass; but we are not going to hold up the draft for passing - if you pass, and 10 picks happen, that's tough luck - you are responsible for jumping in with your pick. If people do not want passing - please speak up and we'll pause to consider. That said, to avoid confusion, I would encourage not passing.

I suppose something to consider, in order of finish, allowing the owners to pick what spot they would prefer in the draft. Maybe someone towards the top sees a particular advantage in being 12th or wherever.

I like mburatti’s suggestion, but not for this year. We only had two options - seeded or random to vote on. Maybe we can add a third next year.

I see no reason why someone shouldn’t be allowed to pass. Just enter “pass” and let the draft continue.

Passing is fine. How many rounds 12?

I would like to say 12 rounds or 14 rounds if the draft is moving quickly. In the past, I recall that the exact number of rounds has been partly based on the speed of the draft.

Adam - let's go, John Briggs is available and would make an excellent #1 pick.

Ok 14 rounds barring slow to absolute crawl. Sounds great. I will be travelling to Ireland June 4 hopefully that wont slow me down.

When will stadiums be chosen? Personally I would like to know where my team will play before I start drafting players.

I believe it's one of your live round picks, so you can decide when you'd like to lock in your stadium.
