Be thankful it's not 2050 where Strat's AI Interface isn't waking you up in the middle of the night with a dulcet tone 'It seems Eddie Matthews has gotten injured again in Game 1, would you like to scream at the Heavens or have me email Strat your April Injury Conspiracy Theory?'

Somebody's having fun and winning championships on here. Maybe ask them how many times they used Eddie Matthews? Maybe it's the ghost of Eddie Matthew's Mistress in the machine? Eddie Matthews is a Libra maybe you need to play him only in his Astrological month?

Oh wait...blineimages you live in Seal Beach, CA. Dude, all teams from Seal Beach are programmed to get axed. You need to move to Long Beach or Huntington Beach, you'll do much better there. Eddie Matthews used to date a girl from there. I was staying in the Belmont shore for a month in Joe Maddon's house (true story) and had a .700 win pct. When I moved back to the valley it plummeted to .490.

Strat HATES the Valley.

I don't care how good your team is ; on average you should win about 1 ring for every 4 playoff teams. The playoffs are a TOTAL crapshoot.

I suspect the math professor friend is correct regarding at least the injury black box. I used to avoid it by having lots of bulletproof players. Don't have a problem with black box stuff per se, but the more analytically inclined among us prefer to be aware of all relevant variables and it is basically commercial paternalism by Mr. Richman in not disclosing to us all that is behind the curtain. That is just their business model, not going to change until the CEO moves on to his own field of dreams.

Don't know anything about clandestine programming changes to limit the interaction between unbalanced cards and unbalanced parks, but I am convinced that BP effects are grossly overstated, so if they did make that change it should at least make results more realistic. But again a quick and dirty patch to an unaddressed systemic issue with the mechanics of the game engine.

The face to face game is so much better than SOM on-line. But this is another quick and dirty fix, for those of us who lack the opportunity or time to invest in face to face competition.

All they need to do to keep me happy would be a random repricing of the most of the cards (up to +/- 5% of current values) with the remaining small subset of more egregious pricing mistakes getting identified and rectified.

And as far as Mathews getting injured in the first game of three consecutive playoff series, aren't the odds roughly 1 in 140,000? That's still 5x more likely than playing five card stud and drawing a pat royal flush. So while the event is unlikely, it doesn't definitively prove anything. That said "batch" injuries are a phenomenon I have seen countless times. I just never linked this to a specific temporal reference point as our math professor does here.

WOAH... wait a sec,

I live in Huntington Beach.
I just had a 102 win team get swept in the finals.
I recently won 2 credits, but can't recall the last time I won.

Going south in California, isn't always the answer...

Huntington Beach will get you a good team but no ring, cuz, well...Orange County. Huntington Beach's official Softball Team is called the Huntington Beach Dudes of Los Angeles cuz, well...they wish they were branded like the LA teams. HB on a hat makes people think you fix Air Conditioners or Refrigerators.

At least you're not in San Diego, those teams are set at 76-86 no matter what.

I think the sweet spot is Manhattan Beach or Malibu, both of which are waaaay outta my price range :)

i don't think playoff results have anything to do with winning percentage, at least thats what my math wiz tells me. he says its a combination of luck, teams effectively tailored to their home ball park (and getting home team advantage in the playoffs), and the pitching staff settings in particular.

Well, he's wrong there if you ask me since my teams have lost game 1 at home in the playoffs 19 of the last 23 times my teams had home field for the playoffs.

Egvrich,
but his findings are based primarily on the database available to him which are my teams---which tend to be extreme right or extreme left teams/ballparks, where home field advantage can be a big benefit or a nightmare.
but as we all know, in a short series anything can and does happen...
