Pudge

PostSat Jul 06, 2019 4:56 pm

We got two Pudge cards. Both have -5 arms. Notable as better than anyone else in the game.

Does anyone know how many of his years resulted in -5 throwing arms?

Has any other Strat card ever had a -5 catcher throwing arm?

While on the topic of throwing arms anyone other than Clemente get awarded a -6?
How many seasons did Clemente get -6.

Santiago should have been -5 in his early years, he had one season where very few guys ran on him at all.

Edit - I looked it up - Santiago had one season of 47% CS. Pudge had 12 seasons of 48% or more.

i thought Speaker was well known for his arm. i think he has the record for OF assists? i was at a game in Atlanta. Aaron was on first, Clemente in right, Alou, hitting after Aaron, singles to RF to Clemente. Aaron nonchalantly runs to second and pretends he's slowing down out of respect for Clemente's arm. Clemente took the bait and thru behind Aaron. Aaron immediately took off for third and made it. Clemente was fuming! Pirates still won.

Clemente and Mays played that game, too. Both ways - Mays had a strong arm too. I think baseball in the 60's had much more well-rounded players than we have today.
