Inter-Decade Keepers League - Drafting

PostMon Aug 26, 2019 11:23 am

Inter-Decade Keepers
Rules: This league is a 4 season commitment. Each league is 12 teams, 100 mil, std 5/10/20 drop penalty, no DH for the 60s, DH in 70s, 80s, and 90s. For the 60s, there is a 4 round message board serpentine draft based on random draw, with the 4th round being stadiums. Each team must remain in the same franchise's stadium for all 4 decades. At the end of each decade, each owner may keep any player on their roster for the next decade (for example, if Willie Mays is on your roster in the 60s, you can keep him for the 70s). Trading of players and/or draft picks is allowed. The 70s, 80s, and 90s will each have a 2 round serpentine draft based on random draw for the non-playoff teams and 9,10,11,12 for the playoff teams.

There is no limit to the number of keepers you can keep; however, keepers must be posted and must be listed on your autodraft list for the new season. If a keeper is cut, he becomes a free agent.

I have a couple of questions on stadiums. I believe the Senators played in DC Stadium in the 60s and then moved to Texas in the 70s. So is a combination of DC Stadium for the 60s and Arlington Stadium for the 70s, 80s and 90s allowed? I believe the Braves played in County Stadium in Milwaukee before moving to Atlanta. If you choose the Braves' stadiums, can you choose either County or Atlanta in the 1960s?

I want people to have the broadest possible initial choice, but then to stick to that franchise.

The following is only relevant for the 4th round selection of stadium/Franchise.

Yes to both questions - however, Braves and Astros can lose one stadium choice if someone first selects the Padres (later stadiums are Jack Murphy/Qualcomm) or Brewers. Since some players may have sentimental attachments to the expansion teams, let's also permit the following 60s stadium choices when you select a franchise for your home stadium:
County Stadium (Brewers) - so we could have 2 county stadiums playing in the 60s if Braves is picked first.
Municipal Stadium (Royals) - we could have 2 Municipal Stadiums in the 60s
If available select either Colt or Astrodome (Padres)
Shea Stadium (Expos) - so we could have 2 Shea Stadiums in the 60s
So for the Brewers and Royals, they get their hometown stadium. The Padres and Expos get expansion stadiums in their division. I can't figure out anything logical for the Blue Jays and Mariners, so those franchises can't be selected.

Picking 9, 10, 11, as I always seem to do, it's always interesting trying to anticipate who will be left after a number of picks. You guys are consistently picking the guys I would've picked. (Now stop doing that.)
