guess I should have looked at this better. As I see it, Sean traded Doolittle to fredpaii for the stretch run and got Blach, a prospect, and a 6th round pick back. Then after the league finished and fred's playoff run was over, fred traded doolittle back to sean for blach.
Essentially, Sean picked up a 6th round pick and a prospect while fred got a closer for the stretch run. Normally, that seems fine. But I have received a couple texts/emails asking about the ethics of it since it is really just loaning a guy a player for the stretch run and then trading him back.
I could make cases both ways:
1. It's collusion in that they traded back right after the playoff run ended. I don't know if this was agreed upon ahead of time or not, but it looks bad either way.
2. It was a shrewd move by sean to get what he could for the asset he had. He got a 6th and a prospect. I did get a text that it also weakened his team and thus increased his draft position (tanking??)
At this point I don't see anything in our rules that speak of this issue....or collusion in general....or tanking. Thus, the trade should be allowed.
But....I'd like to start a conversation regarding these types of trades for the league's future. I say this because I know a couple of people didn't like the fact that the players were traded back after the playoffs ended and thus the texts/emails to me.
Please drop a comment and let me/us know what you think
