Further to my post above - if you have the available cap space, up to $75 million, you can protect more than 25 franchise players if you want. The limitation is really the available cap space for the “rostered” franchise players.
However, there is a *minimum*. You must designate 25 franchise players within the $75 million cap.
Also, remember that any players that you do not include in your list become free agents who may be claimed in the 2 round draft (seems like a concensus) or in the auto draft, or at any time during league play. Moreover, if you cut franchise players at any time, they become free agents available to any other team.
***Note*** - for those of us who are also in “Paul’s Franchise League” - this is a rule difference in this league - franchise players do not *remain* unavailable to other teams if they are not on your designated or active roster.
