Damn it. I hate when people set bars that high.

Personally, I like my bars low and open.

I was going to try to elicit early draft grades from you (out of sheer boredom), but I figured all I'd get is more "Blake Treinen has a really bad card and is over priced" (next second he's slurped up) type comments.

So how about this?

Over/under on draft picks who are dropped pre-opening day? 7 players per team, I think the line should be 1.5 per, or 18 total.

Call it 18.5.

Not that you didn't like the guy at the time, but I think salary cap will really crush some of us (me) in waivers.

You guys know better than me what's happened in past years.

Biggest "OUCH #$%@" picks: #1 by far for me is Goldschmidt going at the end of the 2nd round, 3 picks before mine. I was all set to draft a Wrigley team, and had to change my entire draft strategy because of this big boy going off the board. I'm still so furious by this, I am now going small ball, which I've never played in 200x before. Or at least in years. Second was Jeep drafting Lugo one pick before mine. That one stung. I had that boy all queued up. And it cost me double. I was so angry at Jeep "stealing" my pick that I made a pure spite pick and drafted A.Simmons as the next pick, purely to spite and punish Jeep. Now I regret having his sorry a** on my roster.

Biggest "WOW SHOCKER!!!!" picks: #1 by far is Strahm going first overall. In the finals, gimmicky RP can be exploited with barely any effort. It is so easy to blow up a L-5R rp. If the other 3 teams in his division carry 4 lefty batters (as any team should to begin with) Strahm becomes a liability. 250 IP of subpar performance. #2 is that Kluber and Bauer are still available. Blows my mind. These guys are studs. #3 was JDM going in the first round. I just hate him this year. Sad, because I am a huge sox fan in real life.

Biggest STEALS: 1) Wrigley in the 5th round, 2) Ohtani in the 4th round, 3) Galvis in the 5th round, 4) Buehler in the 5th round, 5) CMart in the 6th round.

I was shocked by this, too. He's good, but there are several other RP2+ guys out there.

Agree. In the regular season teams frequently bat 8+ right handed batters in their lefty SP lineup. So, Strahm works wonders and can really exploit that. Anyone who makes it to the finals should at least know better. If my memory serves me correctly, KLX drafted Andrew Miller first round and won the whole thing. I didn't even make playoffs. This year I am much better prepared (I think). Last year I was dumb enough to draft Wrigley park 1st round!

Elmo surfaced and made his pick, but now for the first time Steve didn’t forward me a proxy. It’s 3:30am in Perth, but knowing Steve, he will be on it first thing. I am taking Nationals with my pick, if that helps anybody down the line (Steve already took a ballpark).

We’re stuck for a few hours, but we will be moving again soon. Get your picks ready!

The problem with formulating a good strategery ahead of time and executing it without hesitation is having to watch the undrafted guys just sit there and stare you in the face.

Aguilar in the 6th was a huge steal (and at 4am local time for Steve), but the better news is that he kept him from Jeep and out of my division! 8-)
