PA Code Update

PostFri Jan 17, 2020 2:26 pm

SOM can you please update this archaic code? The AB's + BB's doesn't do justice to those players that actually have 600+ PA's. Mike Trout is the perfect example. He has an injury 2 making him a 15 game risk. But yet he has 470 AB's, 110 BB's, 16 HBP's and 4 SF's totaling 600 PA's. This is right from Baseball Reference.

Is it that difficult to change the code to:
PA's = AB's + BB's + HBP's + SF's?

Plate Appearance (PA)
Definition from MLB
A plate appearance refers to a batter's turn at the plate. Each completed turn batting is one plate appearance. Plate appearances can often be confused with at-bats. But unlike with at-bats -- which only occur on certain results -- a plate appearance takes into account every single time a batter comes up and a result between batter and pitcher is obtained.

Some quotes from the Strat site...

The ease of play, realism and statistical accuracy of our games earn us exceptional loyalty, as have our constant efforts to improve our games based on the experiences of our customers.

Strat-O-Matic produces sports-simulation games that rate real players and teams accurately for professional baseball, pro and college football, hockey, and basketball.

, because we combine statistical realism with life-like strategy decisions in games that can be completed in a small fraction of the time it takes to watch a real game.

Seems to me like they are missing the REALISM part.

Follow the MLB definition of what a PA is please.
