Diamond dope errors

PostMon Feb 10, 2020 3:33 am

Just noticed that the Diamond Dope pool data is wrong about the 5.01M Turk Ferrell. 4 full doubles are lacking vs lh. But the card reader appears ok. I had him as a nice bargain, but he just happens to be ok with this mistake.

There is a few mistakes in the pool data. A few guys have erroneous ballpark numbers, but these are easy to spot. the 1985 single glitch are still not corrected for most players too.

There are a few offensive players with data way wrong, but I've never seen them used, so I didn't bother calling the community, and now I can't remember who they were.

Give me a list of those players, we may have to delete them and re-enter the data.

I noticed the Farrell issue with diamond dope as soon as the card came out. MARC you are such a spoil sport!

Ha! Ha! You did a nice catch.

Now that you are on the verge on breaking the all-time season 100M win record, you don't need this advantage anymore!!

AndyCummings,

The players I remember with wrong numbers:
EDIT: see blow

ALL (well almost all) 1985 players have their singles numbers wrong... see http://forum.365.strat-o-matic.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=645587&hilit=1985&sid=7953a514c8f47703a04fabd9ea8b0728

More on the ballpark errors (as I wrote, they are easy to spot...but I just realized that these mistakes are carried on the reader card tool...and that's NOT an easy error to spot

Name...Year..........BPSI BPSI BPHR BPHR
McQuillan, 1911 3(5) 5 0 0
1955 Ashburn, Richie 6(5) 5 0 0
1957 Bailey, Ed 6(5) 5 6 3
1941 Gordon, Joe 7(5) 5 5 6
NeL Dihigo, Martin 8(5) 5 4 6
2003 Nixon, Trot 10 (5) 5 0 8
1954 Grammas, Alex 5 6 (5) 0 0
1897 Clarke, Fred 5 7 (5) 1 0
1964 Horlen, Joe 5 7 (5) 1 1
2008 Ruggiano, Justin 5 8 (5) 0 0
1971 Beckert, Glenn 5 10 (5) 0 0
1958 Hoak, Don 6 (5) 5 0 0

I could go back with an old file and retrieve some of the guys whose numbers need to be corrected:

Don Baylor (1.35M...all messed up)
Sandy Alomar (0.70M) singles are missing
Moises Alou 7.78M clutch vs lhp should be -12

A few guys have their singles and doubles mixed up (say 25 singles 5 doubles where it should be 27 singles 3 doubles)
Don Kessinger 1.18M
3.03M Snodgrass
5.07M Jack Clements
5.01 Turk Ferrell

And the 1985 cards (pitchers and hitters alike, see other thread)

Hey luckyman, Sssssh! ;)

Adrian told me a long time ago that the data is crowd-sourced and needs to be double-checked for errors. I caught that one 2+ years ago. I always laugh when I see someone like Labrat using that card.

Check '61 Harmon Killebrew. I think that's another one with a DD data error somewhere.

Ouch! 4.5 too many homeruns. That's the worse error of them all.

Some more pitchers mistakes

Cicotte 10.37M missing 5 BP singles vs lhp

Jack Morris 1986 4.2 HR but 8 BP vs rhp
Pichardo 2.51M some doubles mixed with homeruns vs rhp
Red Lucas 6.71M 0.6 HR missing vs lhp
Pennock 1.8 HR missing vs lhp
Franklin direct homeruns mixed up with ballpark homeruns vs lhp

I'm sure there are other cases. In most cases, I just corrected the data along the way when I was noticing a discrepancy.

4.48 Dave Winfield: missing homeruns most importantly, but some singles too.
5.80M Tony Oliva: missing homeruns most importantly, but some singles too.
Eric Hinske vs lhp, 4 ballpark homeruns
6.66M Killebrew, already mentioned, he had too many homeruns, but his ballpark homeruns was wrong too.
Same with Wally Joyner 5.01M
Cecil Fielder 6.22M missing 2 ballpark homeruns vs rh

Thanks, I'll try to delete those cards and fix them and add them back in, but it will probably be the weekend.

Some of those cards have been in the set for a long time. Also, some cards show errors in the Card Reader but not in the Lineups Section. And if Strat provided the wrong info themselves, that may account for some errors.
