I am playing in my 1st ATG league and it strikes me about a big difference between ATG and 20XX is that you can really stack your teams with players that fit your strategy because there are so many cards. So he's got Polo Grounds '41, which is 0 0 20 20. So he maxed out on platoons with guys with power, did not spend that much on starting pitching (but got guys who do not give up home runs), got one stud R3 to soak up innings and got a very good defensive team which knocks down runners (which Polo Grounds helps to do with zero BP singles). Obviously, it worked.

This is true and to my mind the only way to build a winning team in any version of this game: Find a park advantage and step on it as hard as you can with the best players you can obtain for the money. This run has been fun but the team is coming back to earth because the only thing separating it from many other good teams has been the rolls.

Some regression to the mean was to be expected, but any way you slice it, that's a hell of a team. I like the way Guynick went all in on platooning. I do a lot of platooning, but never had the stones to commit at that level! 8-)
