i thought pricing was done by a committee of 4 or so and not a single person.
this would be news to me that it was only one, unless its different from atg.

also what id say is that you have a problem pricing cards on this or any model when it doesn't accurately reflect the game engine matrix.
for example, players obp largely dependent on Walks tends to go to the lower side.
one of many 'quirks' in the game or whatever you want to call it.

But it amazes me they can produce a game that updates on a daily basis yet somehow be delayed in one where the relevant info has been available for 6 months. Sounds like they really need someone who can write code

Since my name came up I will provide a brief response. As I have stated in the past I am a strat customer like the rest of you. I do not get paid for this. I began playing face to face in the 1980’s. I found this game in the early 2000’s and at that time began trying to use excel to evaluate cards. Based on posts and people I met on the boards I was asked at one point to join the tester community that evaluated card pricing before release. After a couple of years I became the person to model pricing which the testers review provide feedback and then the model is refined prices updated and then released.

Today I have access to much more powerful analytical tools than excel to do this work. I can now turn out prices for an entire set in a couple of hours. In fact several of the past few seasons required no changes since the process has been refined over the years. It is not my place to be the spokesperson for strat so I will not divulge anything with this years set other to say they are implementing logic changes that required testing not to mention understanding how those changes would impact pricing. So this year wasn’t a typical set.

As far as ATG goes I haven’t been really involved with pricing the player additions over the years, but a “version” of my model was used as part of establishing original ATG 8 pricing. Also my model at that time worked better within a limited season set.

I'd be curious if you could elaborate on these tools.

Just browsing through some the cards it seems like the hitter cards are bit underwhelming. Kind of surprising considering the amount of offense produced last year in MLB. It looks to me that they feel there was too much offense in recent years and have adjusted accordingly.

At first glance--this will be a completely different season--how big an impact will limiting RP have??? Could be minor or huge, but is expensive RP worth the money if he is limited??

I think runs will be way up from tired bullpens if I'm reading bullpen ver 3 right. I seldom use slow hook--looks like it will be a must now.
