rules question:
5) Prospects can be promoted to the major league roster at any time, provided there is roster space available. Once promoted all prospects lose their prospect status and cannot be demoted back to prospect status.

the way I read it I could promote someone during the draft and forego my last pick.

Is this the right reading of he rule?

the question is can I promote Calvin Biggio (who has another year of prospect status) during the draft and thus forgo my 10th round draft pick.
this would of course be an at the time decision...I could decide to keep him in the minors and draft someone who is there,

I say why not. But that's just me.

We can start the un timed first few rounds as soon as he does or perhaps tomorrow (Friday) as it is highly unlikely anyone is going to use a first rounder on a cut player.
