What i meant was any rule changes...sort of like "winter meetings"......if and when we start over we go with the rules as they stand for that season till end of every season .only than can rule changes be brought up and voted on.

I understand, but some rules have already been changed for the good of the league. see rule I.03 c that said

Contract extensions take effect prior to the start of season 1 and count toward the inaugural salary cap beginning in the 2020 season.

was changed to:

Contract extensions take effect in the 2020 season. SOM 2019 salaries are in effect for the inaugural seasons.


It made sense and was necessary due to the way the salary structure is for the initial season. so it was changed...after the draft started.

so was the way 3-4 year players extensions was interpreted.

I'm going to offer a compromise. We go back to the original rule and I'll trade Ketel Marte for Kris Bryant. Paul should be happy because he will only have 1 dreaded 5 year player as will 5 others of us. He will have his favorite player to go along with the likes of Trout, Harper and Judge. Everyone will know the pitfalls of drafting a 5 yr guy going forward. Teamnasty should be happy because he will not be stuck with any of them and can go back to drafting all the young guns he can get. I'll be happy cause the league will go forward and at the end of the day I'll have 40 players come in around $140,000,000 and will deal with whatever comes. This is a serious offer guys. Let's compromise and save this league.

How about I trade Baez to you. That way you don't have two 3B (Rendon and Bryant). You don't have a SS yet. and Baez was taken 2 picks ahead of Marte. I still think we should have a way to extend 5 year players for this initial draft and don't really like that they are all basically dead players. I'll just try to find a SS from what is left. but I think this is still a terrible decision for the league.

does that mean we revert back to the other rules that were changed after the draft started? I certainly hope not as they were good for the league as well.

Just move on with the draft. I don't want teamnasty to quit. I'll eat the 2 players and go on from here. Can't believe we are so against a rule that is better for the league. The other rule change got no complaints and was much bigger and effected a lot more people....guess that one was missed though.

Thanks Paul. The draft will continue with the original rules regarding the difference between 3/4 and 5 year players. Fifth year players are poison unless you are willing to play top 25% prices for an extension.
