This is for anyone who thinks that my The Last Druid moniker is bullshit.

Thanks for the heads up. I expect the economy to crash mid January of 2020. Should I be correct in my prognostication, SOM will probably not be viable any longer. In that case, I would be very interested in checking out this site. Otherwise though, I would probably wait until I retire to check it out, as my chess and SOM addictions take up most of my discretionary time at present.

Note that I wrote this to rburgh on 10/8/2019. Subsequently, in early January I completely modified my high risk investment portfolio (which had yielded a return of 61% over the previous eight years) and put everything into shorting the market. Suffice to say that has paid off handsomely indeed. Currently I am out of the market which I exprct to continue to crash. Silver recently dropped to a spot price in the $14 range. Nothing like precious metals to physically possess in times of economic disaster as well as stockpiled provisions, including the ordnance to safeguard them.

What I may have been wrong about is assuming that the imminent next Great Depression would put SOM out of business too. I foresaw a massive health crisis, with millions exiting the planet, but did not think that it would take place until 2022 and that it would be fueled by people despondent over losing everything. But it appears now that SOM may inadvertently benefit from the social distancing and the shutting down of face to face commerce in this country. So now I am optimistic about SOM's immediate future. So there is that.

So stay home if you can, be safe and get plenty of sunlight and do all that you can to enhance your immunocompetence. Most of us who play here are probably over 60 and may have one or more preexisting health issues, and are thus at high risk of adverse outcomes if we get the covid-19 virus. Maintaining a positive mental outlook will be critical to our immune functioning and not ending up as a statistic.

Be well!

Good to know that in a worst case scenario, you'll at least be able to afford a nice tombstone. Your epitaph: "The Only 2-time Barnstormers Champ!" :o

I think you should change your name from The Last Druid to The Last Nostradamus. :)

If Covid 19 is as bad as some believe it is, he could truly be the LAST Druid.

I just wish he would have shared that with all of us before the crash.

Craig (rburgh) just ignored my assessment, which I expected as his world view is highly rational. No reason to think that anyone else here would have believed me either. Chicken Little I am not.

What exactly are you claiming? That you predicted a market crash? That's like predicting rain, sometime this month.

What does any of that have to do with being a Druid ? Unless you hike in the woods on a daily basis, like myself you are more Droid than Druid.

And if you are so good at predicting things, and SOM baseball, how come you are terrified to play the MYSTERY set, or the Daily sets , or any set that you haven't played 2000 times before?

Give me a break, and remember you asked for it. EXPOSED.

Did I miss Radagast Brown in the nearly completed Barnstormers Tournament?
