Barnstormers 2020 - moving on to Event #3

PostMon Mar 16, 2020 9:37 pm

So many who have responded to my signup e-mail are saying that we really need something like this right now. Where I live, we have all been given shelter at home orders and this is the SF Bay area, some 7 million people.

The signup sheet is exploding as it always does and I am digging through my spreadsheet to find e-mail addresses from the past to send invites to. We are pushing back one week on the schedule in order to gauge the effect on the new bullpen settings and are working closely with SOM on the ATG introduction of these changes.

I didn't really have time to think about any changes to the tour for 2020, I went right from getting the Finals off the ground to this look ahead. Mostly, I think it's good as it is now. The bullpen changes should satisfy a large group of our elite players as they try to figure out how it will all work.

Of course, we welcome all players to the tour - the ones who have played every year for 20 years or for the green newbie. Real prizes and a cool Main Standings page. New to the tour - the SOM computer game for EVERY Finals participant and a free credit for everyone in the Top 57 to play their Finals or SemiFinals team. EDITED - it's the computer game ONLY, sorry.

Welcome to 2020 - thanks to all who are signing up and welcome back to all of our old friends.

Please send me an invite. I can't find one on my email nor do I see where to signup online. Thanks a bunch, Moose.

The signup sheet is over in the main ATG section, I put you on it. I will also send (another) e-mail to be sure you get it.

Does the free game for finalists apply to the current tour, or just the upcoming tour?

I think they did issue the free credits for the top 57 already Bruce. But hey, I could be wrong as well.

Rich, I think he was talking about the SOM computer game, not credits.

This is active for the 2019 tour - As I look through the 2019 rules under "prizes", I spotted this.

"New for 2019! The 3rd through 12th place finishers will all win next year's version of the Windows Game (to be released in 2020)"

I remember them telling me it's the computer game and not the board game. So apparently, this is active for the 2019 Tour. 1st and 2nd place have ALWAYS been given the board or computer game. Footnote - Now I see that the winner gets CHOICE board or computer game while the runner-up gets windows computer game.

Go to the 2019 Main Page and click under "PRIZES" https://365.strat-o-matic.com/tournament/34

Yeah, it was the free game I was asking about, not the free credit. Thanks for clarifying!

Moose, in your list of prizes I see no mention of the top four Finals finishers being able to add player cards to the ATG card set. Is that being awarded in the 2020 Barnstormers Tour?

I try not to negotiate downward on prizes so I assume this will remain the same. But I will confirm that for you and post back when I find out. I forget about this particular prize since it doesn't fly high on my importance list, but I understand that it does for many.

"Note: Starting with the 2019 season, we've made changes in an effort to moderately curtail the "Super-Reliever" phenomenon. You can read about them in detail here. These changes do not affect any other player sets at this time."

Will this new change be put through for 2020 barnstormers or not? Says will only affect 2019 and no other player set. Does this mean we can ignore this change for purposes of barnstormers?
